Just saw this car sharing lots together with charging points at AMK Ave 10 car park near Teck Ghee CC. Seems like itâs for electric cars n another step closer to car lite.

Red hill MSCP also have... dunno how they are gonna charge though...

I suspect this is just for the Bluesg rental car fleet n not for public charging, at least for the start.

are the charging stations only for BlueSG users?

Can everyone stop using the term car lite? The garmen is talking nonsense. Don't blindly follow it. How can car sharing contribute to car lite? The same car is used perhaps 5 or 10 time more each day compared to a private car, like the world's oldest profession. Leading to more road trips, more congestion. Just look at what Uber/Grab is doing to the roads.

if garment keep mentioning car lite it means that eventually the % car growth will be set as negative in the near future...

Growth rate zero or otherwise is all about COE premium collection.  So coincidental that once Uber/Grab has excess cars and no longer bidding up the COE, the growth rate is slashed to zero.  But commercial category is not zero.  Uber/Grab do not bid for commercial category.

Growth rate can go negative, if many give up car ownership and COE tanks.  But that is a big IF,  most will swam in to buy at 20k-30k!

the car demand will always be there... as SGreans become richer, there will be more people able to afford cars and willing to take the plunge. however, with 0% and possible future negative % car growth rate, COE is likely to increase further... if COE is too high then garment needs to take cooling measures...

Free market?

The government is making a joke of this country by interfering too much and still talking about free market.  [thumbsdown]

If this is the case, I hope Singaporeans will be wise enough to get these cars since they are still new, especially for those that are not used as PHVs yet.

In short, nowadays I go home in the afternoon also can kena jam. And with my narrow brain I can only think of two reasons why garment diam diam about phv:

1) shift crowd from mrt (though minimal)

2) additional coe and taxes income.

They use lite because they want to create the illusion that it is only a minimalist approach - a "light" touch if you will...

Imagine if they had put what they actually intended as the title.

What it should have been is: "NO MORE CARS FOR YOU" scheme

Later you get scolded for being ungrateful again ah..

But I concur. We should go literally PAP-lite in the government. They need to be knocked off their high horses, and lose a couple of GRCs. Maybe, just maybe, they will shape up.

And worse, some people gave up looking for jobs or their jobs and start renting to drive PHV.

Seen a few enquiry posts on this topic.

It actually contributed more carbon instead.

You saw the recent seminar by PM addressing a crowd of white shirts....i was thinking, do we have so many ministers who are taking minimal 18k addtional salary per month? No wonder taxes need to go up. Edited by Andyngps

18k is part time MP job. Ministers are 80k a month I think. Plus the 18k.

Garnent indeed needs to be knocked off, look at 2011 GE you know liao. Then after victory in 2015 GE, they start their usual pattern again.

18 and 80... sounds like a legit way to confuse and underplay the actual figures... Don't you think?
