Latio2005A Turbocharged November 29, 2014 Share November 29, 2014 I have been thinking of this issue for a while and have in my small way attempted to be a better driver when I hit the road. Since this is a car forum and the year is coming to an end, I thought it might be apt for me to come clean and make a commitment towards contributing to a better driving experience. Towards this, I have made some resolutions in writing to improve my driving etiquette with immediate effect. Of course there would be people who feel that perhaps we should conduct ourselves better in all aspects of our short tour in this mortal world, but for now, I would start a small step towards contributing to good driving experiences to all fellow motorists in this little red dot of ours. Hence, my resolutions wrt being a driver are: 1. Give way to fellow motorists; 2. Apologize instantaneously when I made a mistake; 3. Stick to speed limits; 4. Give way to pedestrians; 5. Stop fiddling with gadgets while driving; 6. Give up parking spot when I am not in a hurry; 7. Less critical of mistakes committed by other drivers; and 8. Cater more time to reach my destinations; and 9. Wear a smile whenever I am behind the wheel. Having resolved to the above, and being a lesser mortals, I would confess that I may still commit the below less than acceptable conducts: 1. Park illegally (for some conveniences while doing quick errands provided I do not obstruct normal traffic flow); 2. Cheat 5-10 minutes on my parking coupons before and after parking ; I hope in my small way I can contribute to better road safety and driving experience to fellow motorists and myself. Cheers! ↡ Advertisement
Yeobt Supercharged November 29, 2014 Share November 29, 2014 sir, may i know are you below the age of 30? i used to drive with almost all the bad habits you mentioned when i was younger. now i don't and i enjoy driving more than before. i realise that a driver would commit more mistakes, speeding and drive harshly when they are in a rush for time. also less patient and get agitated with other road users easier. all in all, it becomes a very bad journey for the driver itself. so now i drive at a moderate speed, enjoy the sound of my car exhaust (like a Maserati), watching other lost clown driving like an 1diot and listening to the radio DJ talking cock. i feel happier everyday.

But number 3 I don't think I can do it. Don't tailgate, don't road hog and ensure headlight on at night These are the common problems in sg Oh ya to achieve ur goals, i think u need some 'incentives'. For example if u commit one of those, then u may punish urself by not eating rice and egg for a month Edited November 29, 2014 by Thaiyotakamli

Vhtfhwlego Supercharged November 29, 2014 Share November 29, 2014 Hence, my resolutions wrt being a better driver are: 1) wash my car more often (up to 2months never wash type). 2) drive lesser 36k km to 28k km per year (can save me $4000 per year by reducing 8k km). 3) Learn to horn people/driver (my wife always say I gave way too much as I already anticipated accident to happen. I horn meaning I never let these foolish drivers will learn their mistakes). 4) Stop tailgating SPF vehicles. 5) Stop parking so close to other vehicles when they failed to park properly within their lots.

Good for you I hope I am 30, but no. I am much older. A lot of spare parts may need replacement due to wear and tear.

Latio2005A Turbocharged November 30, 2014 Author Share November 30, 2014 I believe you need not have to wait until next year to improve yourself. Why not give yourself a chance next month instead. Wishing you and all who would like to improve ourself success from next month. Wise words. I have already started since a few years back in small ways. Now I have enough composure to make it happened and hence my written commitment.
