u sound like u are planning ur suicide.

Lets say car average petrol fc is 10km/l, how much time of idling in minutes will consume one litre of petrol?

Aiyah why you never ask this when I was younger?

I used to idle at ECP for a few hours and could

have taken measurements for you.

:D

Your piston-cylinder action rate was rather high for "idling". :D

I heard that with a modern engine is very hard to commit suicide as the CO levels are so low....not sure true or not

I think still can. If the fumes seep into the car while the person sleep. If long enough should be able to kill also. Saw someone being rescued like that. Was a guy inside a Merc. Looks like a E200. He passed out while he was sleeping inside. Someone called the police cuz he was there for a long time and never move while the car is running.

In the past, using car exhaust fumes to commit suicide was a well known method. Whether that was by running a car engine continuously in an enclosed space like a garage, or by running a pipe from the exhaust directly into the car, again, ideally in a garage. But that was before the days of emission controls on cars, which now emit much lower levels of CO than previously. Whilst it is possible to achieve death using this method, it does generally require older cars. The method is susceptible to a number of things that can go wrong, and for this reason it is no longer cited as an effective method of committing suicide, and certainly not in places like the US, UK and Australia where car emissions are more tightly controlled.

From this site

No I don't have any idea how reliable that is, and nor do I particularly want to spend a long time researching "suicide methods" (it doesn't seem very wise)

But.....

I was told that the re-start doesnt need the starter motor to crank any more in modern cars, they just some use some ignition system tweaks to activate the re-start. Not sure true or not?

I am still trying to find out about this.

For modern start-stops. Does the ECU time the 'stop' such that one piston (for 4 cyl and under) is at the end of the compression stroke? So instead of cranking the starter motor, just fire 1 spark and the engine should turn.

For longer stops I assume you still need the starter, e.g. if stopped overnight, no piston sealing is tough enough to maintain the compression.

Considered current model w212, pre facelift.

Yah that one aircon auto off circulate inside, so in expressway suddenly i feel stink smell or exhaust smell, then i realize that circluate button off. Press again. Wonder how the merc designer design the car, probably they think the car will be used in germany or swiss alps with clean fresh air.

Maybe thats how the fumes got in. Lucky not enough to kill him.
