The Maybach is back...

The Maybach brand has been resurrected. Mercedes-Benz is now using it as a nameplate for the stretched S600L.

 

Wonder how many of those can they sell in Singapore. It should do better than the old Maybach.

if it was my money, the Ghost would have been my choice too.

 

but i never had that kind of money to play with, so this is all hypothetical. i'm more intrigued by the business point of view - with the previous Maybach product being such a huge flop, it's surprising to me that they are willing to resurrect it.

 

a lot of old brand names ended up becoming trim levels, such as Daimler for Jaguar, Ghia for Ford. this looks as though it's going to become the same case.

Probably good steps of Mercedes to name it Maybach (reborn), stretch the wheelbase and only paste its logo at the sides, with chrome around the windows but keep the Mercedes emblem instead of M.

 

Hope to see this S600L maybach in SG road....

Likely only 4 seater version available if not perhaps our President can replace his S350L CGI in a few yrs time....

Now we have this, the W222 S400L Hybrid or S350 bluetech look a bit "short".

in china, base S400L Maybach costs about SGD 300k, S600L Maybach costs around SGD 600k.

Haha I look at the S class as a car for the Lao Ban to drive, the Mayback will be a car for a Lao Ban to be driven in. Seems Merc is pushing out the Mayback like a upgraded S class with varying engine sizes.

 

I share the same sentiment though, if the Mayback looks like a slightly larger S class it will be much more prestigious to get a rolls. (prestigious seems to be what the consumer wants)

 

One of few Maybach's here is owned by Mr Quek so confirm can afford all I cannot afford one so sour grapes
