Neutral Newbie

Met with minor accident on Wed. Other driver said will settle privately and I said ok. I had to rush to MY so I didnt report to insurer. Slipped my mind to take a picture of the damage on her car. When I came back SG tdy, rec'd a msg from other driver saying she will claim from my insurance. I had my car repaired in SG while I was in MY. Just paid $400.

Am worried right now. What should I do??

there was a previous case whereby the party being claimed did not report the accident and his insurance refused to acknowledge the accident and pay out. end up the claiming party LLST. but some insurers just pay and pay... then u LLST. so depends on who's insurance company more gangsta i guess?

you could go outside to do it.

i ever got rear ended by a lorry once and i went to a private workshop outside. their business sense really good; as soon as i sent the car in, they prepared a rental car for me liao [grin]

so i managed to get my bumper done while still have the use of a car for the duration of the repair.

dat is not business sense..the workshop merely taking the chance to claim kao kao from the other party insurer..experienced once when the ws let me use a camry instead of a normal B&B car for loss of use. they did say can claim more from the other party.

How did accident happen? Still got time. Go make a report saying you were outstation. *to cover your ass*

But the down thing is if its already repaired you are unable to claim for it. If you not at fault... maybe see doc? claim injury which I believed thats what the other party did.

Thanks for all your advice guys.

Manage to send in my car to a workshop handling third party claims and got a 9 year old Sunny as rental.

Hopefully the repairs can be done asap.

Car workshop made me sign a form which indicates lawyer will be engaged to recover all the repair costs from NTUC (the other guy's insurance).

I am not too sure if I would have to pay the legal costs though. Workshop boss also told me own insurance with AIG would not be affected.

No need to worry about legal costs. Borne by 3rd party insurance.

Since the repair to my Nissan was completed 6 months ago, been struggling with this issue of water seeping into my boot and workshop was not able to do a good job of fixing it. Visited a few but none seems confident to do the job.

Took the plunge and traded in my Nissan for this as trade in prices are pretty good.

And yes, 7 speed dry clutch and I just have to tamper my expectations on it's reliability (relative to a Jap car).

Go outside workshop. They will be able to claim 3rd party and repair your car immediately.

ADs will only touch your car after they confirm the 3rd party claim will go through. No point wasting your time with them. Most outside WS can do the job.

Congrats [smash]

now your new car don't match your nickname [grin]

Good one bro! Nice cars but those gearbox problems are worrying. Don't want to be stuck suddenly when heading out for an appointment.

Bo lah test drive outside the showroom very heavy rain so car was wet when drive in. Anyway life is so short so perhaps it is good to experience what it is like being stranded. Perhaps tomorrow or who knows.

It is a Dec 2013 registered model. 122 hp model so it is not exactly fast.

Thank you all bros here for your well wishes. Life is short (ren shen duan duan ji si nian) so I am not worried and take it one day at a time. Life is a cycle, perhaps one day I may try a jap car again.

Not bad, good price for a VW. Seems easier to bargain down for newer cars.
