Opinions On Used Euro Van

Hi all, I am thinking of getting a eurovan for daily usage and looking at the below choices.. whats your opinion on the following choices with regards to reliability? on a tight budget so can only consider the following..

Actually non of the above. They are known to have a lot of problem especially at this age.

 

Running cost is similar to a small conti car. Must register to a company. Yearly inspection test and smog test. Not free. If cannot pass you will be looking at more cost. Parts & labour are not cheap.

 

You might as well get a used small Japanese car with the the same age.

like the previous post, unless you really need a van, FORGET IT!. these old euro vans will Bleed you dry. i know, i have a 2000 kangoo. i'm still stuck with it cause my other half refuses to let it go, else i would have sent it to the crushers a looooong time ago. the only reason why i tolerate it is, i renewed COE for 100+ in 2007, giving it super low depreciation.

a search thru sgcarmart only shows china made cars at this price range and year... and they are way smaller compared to the vans above..

 

a van would be a better choice cos i can deliver goods sometimes.. how is the cost for repairs like for euro vans? i plan on setting aside 1-2k for repairs and servicings if i get the van..

 

plus now got lemon law i think if get from the dealers should be able to get some sort of warranty for the impt parts like engine and gearbox right..

I think you need to set aside way more than that for repair.

 

Don't be penny wise pound foolish. No doubt you will pay less upfront but in the end you will pay a lot more for the repairs.

When time to scrap nobody will be willing to do it for you. Even if you do it yourself it's just scrap metal value. The thing about commercial vehicles in Sgp there's no parf value.

Why wun get a hiace or NV350?

 

I am getting a NV350....reliable, easily available parts and every mechanic basic training tool.

 

Btw, i used to do vanning.....lol, back to one again...haha

the older berlingo less power

kangoo and combo is the worst

 

at least thomas workshop at autopoint is extremely experienced in this vehicle and his rates are consider not carrot

i am driving a small car now and the thing is the space is too small.. i am running a small business myself so sometimes i have to transport goods..

 

thus i think the eurovan will be wat i need.. as i just started out.. so budget a bit constrained.. i browsed thru the internet last night and i am more inclined to go for a Fiat Doblo instead.. reviews looks good from various users in sg..

 

would you guys rec the 1.3 or 1.9 version? i am most likely to drive below 70km/h most of the time like i do with my car now.. haha.. rarely go above 8-90km/h..

Bro, my company own a fiat doblo. Running cost is high and parts r ex, only thing good is the FC. When we wanted to get another van, we got a nissan nv200. Prove to be more efficient and easy maintenance

My current van(japanese petrol van) is due for scrapping in around 2.5 years. May consider changing to a diesel conti van like TS, or another 10years+ petrol van(like Extol or Suzuki Carry). What will be a good choice? Are the Extol and Carry ok to use after 10 years?

 

Or better to end my business and find a proper job?

If your current van is bought from new,& mileage not very high,with proper servicing these vans are good for another 10 yrs,but with 2nd or 3 rd hand Euro Vans with no proper servicing records are "Ticking time bombs"...better not.

By the way my van can't renew anymore. Reaching its lifespan in 2017.

 

I am thinking of getting an old Extol or Carry( >=10 years), or a Berlingo(least prob among the euro vans). Not sure what is better. Cant really afford the Every(higher depreciation).

 

Any comments? Or better to fold up my business?
