How was the settlement like?

I think current rule is like this:

1. 2nd claim 3rd, 3rd pay 2nd.

2. 4th claim 5th, 5th pay 4th's backside.

3. 5th claim 6th for its backside, 6th pay 5th's backside.

Not sure if following arrangement is still acceptable :

If 5th can proof that it hit 4th only after 6th hit it hard to propel it forward to hit 4th, then 6th pays both 4th and 5th.

The blue Comfort taxi also drive too fast...bang into the Mercedes taxi.

I know many don't like taxi drivers here but somehow I feel for them when I learnt that Comfort ordered these Sonatas WITHOUT airbags in order to save costs . The above video demonstrated how important an airbag is in these situations . And I wonder , after viewing the video again and again , whether Comfort has also saved on ABS as well . [shakehead]

If i am not wrong the newer i40 taxis come with airbag already.

and this week's genius of the week goes to ... this guy!

towards the end you'll see 3 bus drivers on the right (they were pointing animatedly to the right hand side towards nicoll highway, which is also one way, which means this driver somehow drove from there all the way down without getting into an accident. guess the timing [past 11pm] played a part too)

Once a driver stopped before a pool of water.

2nd car stopped, 3rd car didn't and smashed into 2nd car.

4th car stopped, 5th car & 6th car didn't & smashed into 4th.

4th car was inch away from 3rd car.

And 1st car just drove off also.

No investigation from TP on the first car despite injuries with the parties involved.

The car that stopped before a pool of water did nothing wrong what. Its the cars that couldn't stop that were at fault for not keeping a safe distance.

The question is why did the car have to stop before the pool of water?. The pool of water is neither a hazard nor obstruction, but when the driver stopped, he made himself a hazardous obstruction.

He could have thought that the pool of water is too deep for his car to go through? In this case even if TP investigate, definitely its the car behind at fault.

Another case I encountered was that the front car claimed that he heard some weird noise from the cabin so he decided to ebrake on lane 1. Got injuries so there was a TP investigation and the car that rear ended him got 9 points and fine for causing the accident.

I agree that regardless of the situation, when you rear end someone on the roads, 90% of the fault is on you. Even if the driver you rearended is so kuku thinking that a pond is a lake and the car will sink instead of going over like normal. I vaguely remembered that I learnt how to deal with "water puddles" in my theory lessons. And also, specifically, theory states that one should never stop their vehicles on the expressway?

Again, defensive driving comes into play. We cannot assume other drivers are as 'smart' as us.

Yes. That is why keeping a safe distance is important. I have sat in cars driven by others and they keep a gap of less than 2s claiming that they are observant and always looking ahead at the car infront of the car directly infront of them so they'll still be able to react in time. They don't realise that the car directly infront of them can ebrake for some other reasons that they can never see or anticipate. This is why I still feel the 2s gap is important even if you are observing traffic even further ahead.

If you look at the previous video involving 2 motorcyclists, the merc cab and sonata cab. You can see the Sonata cab kept more than 2s distance (counting the time it took for him to actually rearend the merc cab), but in the end still langgar.

That is why I particularly do not like to be behind drivers who like to tap brakes, brake for no reason, brake because their 2 cars distance tio reduced by cars cutting in front of them or they suddenly feel 2 cars distance not enough for them to react.

What I do is to move into 2nd lane when it is safe to do so. Most often than not, I end up overtaking these safe drivers on the left.

2s gap only works if the driver is concentrating on driving. If the driver is distracted, how much gap he leave also can get into accident. I never had a problem leaving 2s gap. Hardly get anyone cutting in and even if they do, I don't need to tap brakes also can continue to maintain a 2s gap.

I nearly kena this type of situation before afew weeks ago.

was entering CTE tunnel from AMK direction towards Orchard.

upon entry, a slight bend. 2 cars in front of my jam brake and I stop on time and look at my rear mirror.

saw this VW MPV coming fast and heard squeaking sound. I try to inch forward as much as possible to give this mpv enough space to stop without hitting me....... heng ah....... [sweatdrop]

If cannot tell how deep is the water then you shouldn't be driving through it...

Standard advice is that for "standing water" you check how deep before entering...

So it really depends how big is the "puddle" that you are talking about.

Many many times I have seen / experienced "puddles" on expressway that you shouldn't be entering at anything over 30 or 40 km/h

This is a possibility that this driver [stop before pool of water] is from "workshop scam syndicate". They know when and where to create accident situations, without incriminating themselves.
