Columbian78 6th Gear October 20, 2014 Share October 20, 2014 The blue color car posted in the first post is the original sentra with 1.8 engine launched in the US in 2011 or 2012. I think it looks different in real life, can check fast lane car in YouTube. Search sentra. This blue color is not available here. The colors for the local SSS are the same as this for the normal versions. The 17 inch rims are used in the local SSS. The Nissan sentra in the us. ↡ Advertisement

Same color option as the regular slyphys. I'm merely showing what the front bumper trim will look like for the SSS and also the rims. Sorry if I misled anyone. It doesn't help when the catalog only show the rear of this "elusive" car.

Hosaybo 6th Gear October 20, 2014 Share October 20, 2014 If this has no cevs, then the price diff with the base model will not be that great. If I am not wrong, cevs for normal sylphy is 15k. So actual diff is 12k instead. Correct me if wrong.
Columbian78 6th Gear October 20, 2014 Share October 20, 2014 Cevs for both normal 1.6 and 1.8 sylphy are 5k. Latest omv for 1.6 sylphy is about 15550. So part rebate after 10 years is about 5k. Cevs for SSS is 0. Omv about 20k. So rebate about 10k. If this has no cevs, then the price diff with the base model will not be that great. If I am not wrong, cevs for normal sylphy is 15k. Variablefeedback 3rd Gear October 22, 2014 Share October 22, 2014 Nissan brought in the Slyphy SSS which spots a 1.6 turbo engine with 190ps and 240nm. Due to the weight it's not really a sprinter but produced a decent 8.4sec century sprint. Anyone interested? I would if the SSS looked like this: EXPECTATION Instead of this: REALITY But still I might give it a test drive. Who knows it might be a nice drive. Same suspension? Forget it lah ... its a boat. But if got aftermarket kit to mod to "expected" model, MTL ... But those rims better be light ... if not another KIA FORTE K3 2014 disaster.

Columbian78 6th Gear October 22, 2014 Share October 22, 2014 Correction to my earlier info. The SSS has 6 airbags, factory fitted leather seats. The suspension is largely the same but with different tuning. Rims are factory fitted. Tyres are 205/50/17 continental cpc2.

Columbian78 6th Gear October 24, 2014 Share October 24, 2014 (edited) I do agree with ER-3682 that this car is not targeted at people looking for high perf. I think it is more for people who like a good balance of comfort, space and perf, in an unassuming casing. Kangadrool is correct in highlighting that the SSS has torsion beam rear. I am quite a novice in this and I know torsion beam is usually used in cheaper cars while better cars use multi link. Anyone can explain if torsion beam is less comfort for rear passengers, and how much it affects the overall handling of the car? In my short distance test drive as a driver, I did not observe anything bad with the suspension of the SSS. For S'pore use, more less the comfort the same, handling wise also about that, except owners wants to track it,then, multi link can adjust it's camber, for better grip..while Torsion Beam is fix, like the Live axle used in older RWD cars & lorries.

Think it will perform better than the 1.8. With the kerb weight of 1.3 tonnes don't think it'll do very good in century sprints but should offer good drivability in mid speeds due to the torque. The problem is nissan currently lacks the image of a sporty low end vehicle to entice young buyers, they seemed to be happy with boring looking bb cars. They even stop bringing in the juke! Kangadrool Supersonic October 25, 2014 Share October 25, 2014 For bread and butter cars, there's lot of difference. Besides the obvious that left side will be affected when right side goes through a bump...., those with softly-sprung or long travel suspension on torsion beam = strong heaving and leaning during cornering. You can stiffen up and/or shorten the suspension travel, but = very harsh ride even on relatively smooth roads. Of course, there are rare rides or even sport cars on rear torsion beam that are very well-tuned. Five years ago, I tested the Avante (on rear multilink) versus its sister Cerato Forte (on rear torsion beam), can feel the difference even on test routes. Too bad, the new Elentra (successor) downgraded it to rear torsion beam, obviously a cost cutting measure or increase profit for the maker (depending how you see it). For S'pore use, more less the comfort the same, handling wise also about that, except owners wants to track it,then, multi link can adjust it's camber, for better grip..while Torsion Beam is fix, like the Live axle used in older RWD cars & lorries. Elmo 4th Gear October 25, 2014 Share October 25, 2014 Hope it will not turn out to be another "Beng" car for the "Beng" racers of another new era. From Cibic to VW and now this....... Think Honda Fit has a better chance of being the next Beng car with the current economy. As for Sylphy maybe more for Lao Beng who still wants some comfort for our stiff backs.... Lol. I personally hope cars like Type R and WRX can make a comeback. Even a new Supra would be nice. ↡ Advertisement
