Anyone got car left 3-4 months want to get rid of?

That's only 9k/year depreciation for a 523! How much lower can it get...

I drive a BMW e90. The problem with BMWs is that there is a lot of wear and tear due to the high operating temperature of >100 degrees Celsius. The thermostat for the coolant closes at 105 degrees Celsius. Maintenance cost can run up to thousands if the owner neglects the BMW until he sells it.

Does the 523 have the dreaded gearbox jerk when the vehicles is about to come to stop?

Supercharged

too bad..I was trying to look for a car recently also got problem..all direct owner wants at least 8k+ depre for a less than a year car..

wonder are they really direct owners...lol...

now, i have to resume my search again due to my ride was crashed..well..bad luck...

do let me know if anyone has 1-2 years one..and of coz, not those sellng at dealer price lah..

If you are a direct owner you also like to peg your current car price like the dealers right?

Then when dealer mark up, direct buyers say dealers are xxxxx.

So hard to please everyone.

there'll always be chance for arbitrage because seller wants as much as possible and buyer wants to pay as little as possible.

what this thread really does, in the end, is to eliminate the middleman. if it gets too established, i don't think prices would be that much different. but at least you know who and what you're dealing with (until dealers invade this thread, and your car appears again as a "direct owner" sale with textile centre or the grandstand as backdrop...)

hi, i think at least 80% of folks here have an idea of how much mark up the 2nd hand dealers have. and these dealers have all sorts of reasons for marketing the car at said value, be it logical or nonsensical. we buyers will have to practise due diligence to read up and CSI as much as possible before we sign on the dotted line.

But if a direct seller pegs the price to dealer level, then i dont think it is logical coz the seller will not get this kind of price from a dealer.

i understand ur "hard to please everyone" logic but ur 1st two sentences totally no connection. just fyi...

1 second what u mention. arbitrage is unavoidable.

and, maybe all sellers shld indicate "this car shld not appear in any resale advert for at least 3 months unless valid reason is produced" in the sale agreement / contract. [:p]

not trying to be funny la. just hoping to get a 9 yrs old car at a reasonable price... [sweatdrop]

I think a reasonable price will be for sellers to sell a little higher than what the dealer would offer and for the buyer to buy lower than what they would get from a dealer. So it will be a win-win for both buyer and seller and seller can be honest about the car condition and buyer will also know what they are in for and not so much surprises and shock after taking over the car.

I have been trying to sell my 523 at less than 9k annually and no takers except a few low ballers offering QQ price.

Sad that me, a real direct seller with a really well maintained car with a non tempered speedometer has no choice but to off load to a dealer at their asking price. I won't be surprised my car ended up being sold to a buyer at 11k depre subsequently.

I was looking at some 9 years old SSS to track and to my surprise, their depreciation are at around 11k to 13k, so much higher than some contis out there.

Seems like the average depreciation of cars in sg are at around 10k PA.

If you are referring to BMW, they can cost a lot to maintain. Engine oil and coolant leaks are commonplace. The 6 speed auto gearbox is known to jerk especially before coming to a stop. You can easily spend thousands on repairs. I drive a e90 320i and it breaks down unless I pray to ti gong.

If you factor in the original price of the car, a BMW is definitely worth it at 9k per year. Why get a Japanese car at 11-12k when you can get a BMW at 9k?

What I cannot stand is owners of popular makes like Altis, Mazda 3 and Civc have to sell their car with a depreciation of 11-12k per year when their car is nearly 9 years old. It just doesn't make sense. I'm pretty sure if they were to sell it off to a dealer, they won't even get that much. Probably paper value and 2-3k extra. When someone who's interested offers a decent price which is definitely more than what the dealer will offer, they decline. KNNCCB.
