I managed to buy an Altis 1.6A, left about 1.5 years. It was cheaper than dealer but spent little bit on some repairs but still ok. Just a reminder for people buying direct from owners. Make sure to check the car condition and performance, which I think everyone supposed to do. This is because if you buy from dealer you can go back to them for problems, but when it comes to owner they may not entertain you anymore as they had "washed hands". In my case, I should have reduced additional $400 - $500. A lesson learnt!

However, I believe this forum should get involved in buying and selling among individuals instead of relying on dealers. There is good and bad as at times people might exploit or worse, get cheated -- so always try to deal if you believe it is genuine, of course luck also counts, for both buyer and seller.

Most importantly, if the seller is looking at present depreciation, forget the deal. It will be good to go carmart instead.

I just wanted to share my experience. Good luck.

Both parties should understand why you are dealing with each other instead of dealer. Aim for a win-win situation.

Based on the high depreciation now, you can sell at 700/month and still get a good response. That's 4.5k above scrap value and makes the depreciation 8.4k/year. You can try to sell for 10k/year but not much extra money (5.4k - 4.5k = $900) and it will be harder to sell.

Basis above is 10.6K and another bro suggested 4K above paper value which is 10.1K

For quick sale, I will let go at 9K if anyone wants to commit. (This will allow for incidental spend that may occur) Battery just changed less than 6 mths ago. Tyres iirc last year

Car details as follows :

Kia Cerato COE HB

Open Market Value: $11,118.00

PARF Eligibility: Yes

Minimum PARF Benefit:$6,115.00

COE Expiry Date: 18 Nov 2015

Quota Premium (QP): $14,801.00

Target Transfer Date : 01 May 2015

Paper Value at 01 May : $6,919

I think $9k is quite good value, with rebate $6,919, which means depre is abt $3.2k/year. Good luck on your sale.

Edit: Oops forget that the rebate will be less in Nov. So rebate shd be ard $6,200. So depre is $4,200/year. 1 month is $350, still quite decent.

3 hrs snap up means offer too good i feel. That's $160 per month, the rental price for 1 weekend!

so $2885 over approx 6.5mth. or $5342/yr. good value rite?
