if I want to sell my car with just 6 months to go in COE, is it once I agree a price with the buyer, I need to first go pay up my outstanding loan, then meet at LTA for transfer or should I ask for payment first (like a deposit) etc before I commit to sell the car? Whats the usual process for you all like?

Get a deposit from the buyer... then clear your loan and arrange for the buyer to go LTA with you to do transfer. 

 

Ask for a cashier's order from him... settled

if sell to direct buyer is,

 

collect deposit

do your full settlement

arrange a day to go LTA with buyer to do transfer

collect payment and hand over

 

 

if selling to dealer is

 

collect deposit

give them detail of loan

arrange handover date

handover and collect surpass or pay them any deficit
