Another reasonable one worth considering. Is Opel a reliable (vs VW, BMW) car? Seems like some good deal coming out from Opel.

Not too sure, maybe Opel owners can comment?

It's still a German make, should be fine I guess? :)

I guess this topic all started with the good intention to get the maximum value for a car which is:

a) too good for scrap and

b) may even be worthy for COE renewal

However, along the way all kinds of 'rojaks' including cars with ridiculous pricing came along as 'offers' which makes it difficult for potential buyers to determine if it is truly a good buy for 'temporary' as oppose to 'rental' or possible extension of COE since some cars may well be 'cheaper' and good enough economically and for its true value.

Therefore, it is important to remember that one just need to be prepared to write off the cost of depreciation (without the possibility of a recourse against the seller for the 'lemon' due its time frame etc..) should the car turned out to be a lemon which is not worth repairing to last 'til its last day or for COE renewal.

Just my 2 cents.

Anyone have a car with a few months left to let go?

I am planning on a grad road trip.

So rather than selling to greedy dealers at paper, why not let your old car become somebody's memorable last holiday as a student?

Am open to discussion and of course, pay cash at a price that you won't lugi if compared to dealer. Win-win situation for us both.

Pls pm me.

I see the irony in your post below and your pseudonym :D

Btw, what is the COE paid which possibly MAY justify your asking price by someone willing to negotiate your offer. I attached below the 10 year PQP COE for you to choose one which, upon your positive reply will inevitably be more informative to the prospective buyer.

Think he knows the parf coe is almost negligible. His selling point is mechanic owner And monthly 700plus. But he forget to add almost no paper value n if lemon. U can suck thumb at scrapyard for 100d. If lucky

Hi Hi,

I have a Getz 1.4l which COE is going to be due on 13th Aug 2015.

Am planning to scrap the car soon and am checking if anyone is keen to take over the car before I scrap it.

Servicing just done on 11th May 2013 and car should be good for another 3 months.

Current paper value = $6,112

Road Tax Rebate = $313

Current cash out = $6,425

Anyone keen to take over the car at 7.5k? or its too much to ask for?

I made a mistake on the Road Tax Rebate, its $156.60 instead of $313...

Revised calculation :-

Current Paper Value = $6,112

Road Tax Rebate = $156.60

Current Cash Out = $6,268.60.
