Any LED TV to recommend?

If you're into using TV to access the web, then apart from need to get SMART TV, suggest you also get one that has wifi built in. For me, they gave me a USB wifi dongle. it was ok till i tried to use a 'magic remote', which was also a FOC item (bought from PC fair) -- cos that one also USB, and there's only one USB port on the TV...

And if you're into watching photos and videos taken on your phone, on the big TV screen, then new Sony TVs come MHL-ready, which means mobile phones can be connected via cable to TV.

If you prefer connection to be wireless, then more tricky: if you're a Samsung phone owner, suggest get a Samsung TV. They have proprietary software that allow samsung phones to communicate with samsung tv wirelessly so pics and videos from phone can appear on TV. LG has this too. Too bad i use samsung phone, but have LG TVs…

Hi guys,

My house Plasma TV finally game over le (this plasma TV really last, Bought since 2006.) . . . Have to source for new TV.

Any good recommendation?

Ideal size is 42".

Those curved LED looks chio :)

You may want to consider :))

I still prefer Jap blands, and I have a preference for Sony, Toshiba :)

Maybe you can go to those electronics store, and ask the promoters to demo to you.

Sit / stand in front and watch... and see how comfortable you are.

The bland and model that caught your eyes, just take it :))

I love these type of threads.

Recommendations eventually give every possible brand and every possible size with no eventual 'best buy'. [grin]

Same for car cams as well.

No wrong no right......as long as they are happy and its seems a worthy buy just go for it lor!

Yeah. That's why I do not just come here and ask when buying electronic stuff. The go to place for me is cnet Asia.

They often have a buying guide... http://www.cnet.com/topics/tvs/buying-guide/

...and top picks with estimated price.... http://www.cnet.com/topics/tvs/

Helps narrow down the choice in the sea of TV brands and manufacturers.

every members here had their opinion so there isn't a right or wrong opinion....in fact, I like such discussion rather than someone just tell me go for this brand and that brand....MCF is a much mature forum that members give opinion and let TS make the final decision....thumbs up...

Twincharged

I am using Phillps for my main TV. It was cheap and seems quite ok. Will avoid sharp though. Have 2 Sharp TVs and both have been replaced before because the panels had some problems. One was replaced twice. And both of the Sharp TVs are only about 2+ years old.

I've a lousy cheapo samsung lcd. 5 yrs later, it still won't die.

That's the kind of tv I like, no need for repair and last a long time.

My bedroom Samsung 32" LCD is not even FHD, only 720.

Used for so many years already, refused to spoil. Cannot upgrade to new one.. [grin][grin]

My Plasma is from Panasonic! Serve me for 8 years then gone case. My dad still wanna repair. But i doubt there is parts available le.

Thanks bro. I have bad experience with Philips TV. Used to have a Philips monitor. Really super disappointing. Hahhaa. Might consider the Toshiba 40" 40L5450VE. . .

Do you think 40" and 42" makes a big diff?

+1 for plasmas. Used to love my old Panasonic Kuro... but had to leave it behind in Dubai cos it was too heavy. My bro-in-law still using it.

LED panels have improved a lot. I say any brand except for Sharp is good. Personally I have a Sony cos I think they make good stuff.

Don't be suckered into the various smart features etc etc. But my kids use the 3D feature a lot, so if there for same price... why not get it just in case.

My only advice apart from not buying Sharp is make sure you buy the biggest that your place and budget can afford. You're going to keep this around for 5+ years, best to go for the biggest (thats what she said [:p]) I regret not going for the bigger model already [bigcry]
