Drivers who cannot be bothered to ensure their rear goods are below height limit, no matter how many sensors are being installed, it will not be enough to warn them. These drivers simply bo chup.

hmm, while in some places, wished that some decent everyday pasar malam tech was planned for.......

In the spanking new NUH Medical Centre multi storey carpark, there are no overhead (red/green) indicators.

Looking for an empty lot is like the old days, haha

Thought these devices should be de-facto fitments for a building opened in 2014?

Do you prefer to go back to the good older days where the open air carpark, with limited lots, and all of us have to circle round and round to look for a lot?

The current centre, I don't even have to complete a round in the carpark, and already in the lift to the clinic liao.

is it so, the carpark small ah?

used it only twice.

still prefer the old covered carpark at Kent Ridge Wing.

Btw, the Medical Ctre carpark, the uplope so many stories up to the1st level of parking and quite tight, feel abit giddy.

hehe, having said that, don't ask me want to go back open air carpark or not.

No lar, won't ask again, as that open air cp already closed for other development liao.

Anyway, I think Kent Ridge wing cp still there, if you prefer.

Get to 3rd F, cross the road and you're in Med Ctr liao.

Guess I lucky the couple of times when I parked in the Med Ctr, cos never have to go beyond the very 1st cp level.

This is simply useless

Why don't they put some speed cam there to generate more income???

There is already a speed trap hot spot there in the opposite direction towards Clementi, Now is to spend a bit of the money they collected. To the tune of $120K, when a simple, maintenance free, fail-safe gantry-type structure would do a better job.

More likely. Because vukit timah is rich man area. LTA Trying to avoid inconveniencing the elite

Sounds logical :D

Anyway, if it's able to reduce errant truck drivers from knocking into overhead bridges where we pedestrians cross, then I would say go ahead.

I don't think that is madatory under any building codes.

More of a service for drivers.

High costs of maintenance would put off buildings from installing it.

What is the word?

We are so used to carparks having these indicators these days, so much so any which don't have seems outdated.

Just like some older carparks, the management could be stingy, their EPS machines still need to insert card.

Riverview Hotel and the old building beside Beauty World in Bukit Timah are examples.

Similarly, if we go to a mall and the toilet still uses twist type taps, we would be disappointed...... or excited!

It's not cheap to have the automated deduction.

you need the software module and the hardware to be integrated. End of the day, boils down to costs. The PCB for the antenna reading your IU costs around $3000+.

There are only 3 or 4 authorised companies that can setup or sell the ERP parking units.

You can't get it from anyone else, even any repairs have to go back to them.

good points . . .

only those whose carparks have lower rates of use can afford to continue using the old system.

Not economical to upgrade.

Those bigger premises surely need the remote EPS system or else the car queues will stretch long long.

Having said that, it is not a big issue.

I just drove past Upp Bt Timah Rd (northbound) just now. On the overhead bridge just after Esso (but before Shell), i notice 2 cameras and a digital display mounted on the bridge. I suppose that is the new warning system.

What came into my mind is.. Why the fark do they choose this particular bridge for this system? When along the same stretch of road, just 200m and 400m upstream, there are 2 other overhead bridge. If there are any vehicles exceeding the height limit, it will kena the former 2 bridge first, before even reaching the last one (with the warning system).

Paper scholars at work? [shakehead]
