first closure happened last night,

according to papers, didn't turn out well.

pedestrians were squeezed out of the roads in some instance,

because of crazy idea of having tennis clinics there.

imagine 2 players playing tennis on orchard road deprives how many visitors of how much space.

OBA, don't need a MBA to figure out, please rethink

precisely !! they close whole road but yet allocate like 2 metres for pedestrians. Fark lah, be like a real walking street lah.... DAMN COCK !!!

Was heading there last night along Steven Road. Gave up and turned off at Balmoral thanks to the traffic jam. What another GREAT idea to create move jams....

If you drive, stay far far on such days.

Beware! LTA may put ERP gantries at Steven Rd etc to 'control' traffic!! [sweatdrop] [sweatdrop]

It can be a backup for HLP in case more than one party books it. [sunny][grin]

I have, but they are not as exciting as what you have said..... [bigcry]

How about repeating the 50 years ponding but do it artificially and with fun factors thrown in eg let everyone splash the ponding water to one another and some wet wet fun!?

OK, that is, nonetheless, also a suggestion.... [:p][laugh]

They will say to 'optimise' traffic flows by making drivers use other roads, and when this happens and other roads get congested, more ERP gantries!

A parade will be good, maybe make that street as magician street? Hire few magicians to perform, it will be fun and create some games as well for families to enjoy.

If that doesnt work, then make that street as pinoy maid picnic haha

SINGAPORE - Several roads in the Orchard area will be closed on Saturday (Nov 12) for the Orchard Road Christmas Light Up.

The affected roads are: Orchard Road, between Scotts Road and Bideford Road; and the carriageway of Mount Elizabeth Road in the direction of Orchard Road, between Nutmeg Road and Orchard Road.

The roads will be closed to vehicles from 3pm to 11pm.

During the road closures, access will be granted only to police and emergency vehicles. The police said on Thursday (Nov 10) that parking restrictions will also be strictly enforced and vehicles found parking and causing obstruction will be towed away.

Avoid this area or the surrounding roads if possible.
