Aerosmith 2nd Gear September 16, 2014 Author Share September 16, 2014 Haha. Just call a spade a spade. He wants you to get fake documentation. care to elaborate? is it like asking the exporter to change the registration date of that vehicle in that country? also, if the car in question is a model that went through modification by a modifcation company, can it be considered a new car after that modification and thus be considered ok to import to singapore? just an example, lets say, this american company converts left hand drive mustang to right hand drive mustang, can the registration date change? another example, is when a mod company take an old kit car, rebuild it, will it be considered new car? Car will still have to pass homologation - Don't believe kit cars or conversions will pass Also, most of the tuners are not recognised at manufacturers, so you will have a problem there. One of the few that are recognised as full manufacturers are Alpina (start with BMW body and then mod from there, comes with full BMW warranty)

Nope. Conversion/modification doesn't count. It will still be date of original production that counts.
Darryn Turbocharged September 16, 2014 Share September 16, 2014 Nope. Conversion/modification doesn't count. It will still be date of original production that counts. I think what you can do, that might work quite well - take a 30 year old car, then have it fully re-engineered to modern standards. There are a few companies around that can do this. You might then be able to import it as a classic on a standard plate - that one not so sure, but I think it has been done before. If not - at the very least you have a beautiful classic, and can start a sideline in wedding car hire.

It will still be date of original production that counts. i have been reading a bit on the import process at onemotoring, they did mention they will take the first registration date in the foreign country. so my thinking is, can't we import first to another country and register there to get a recent date of registration, then won't it be able to come to singapore?

LTA wants the classic car come with original specs as per original date it first left the factory, therefore "modernised" specs are not allowed, unless you are using original, old specs to custom-make all the components.
