He made the remarks when asked about a report that Malaysia has offered to let the US use one of its airbases to fly military spy planes over the South China Sea. Admiral Jonathan Greenert, the US Chief of Naval Operations (CNO), has said that the Malaysian government recently asked the US to operate the P-8 Poseidon aircraft from the country’s most eastern area, giving the Americans greater proximity to the South China Sea. However, Rickard said “either bases certainly are not required, either bases, I would say would be more of a political move, the Americans can conduct all surveillance they want.” He said the US is already present in the region. “The US Navy has a great presence in southeast Asia.” “So at the end of the day, this may just be a political move and discussions and they never happen or unfortunately it also maybe that Malaysia is making a mistake and then really making ties with the American Navy that it really should not be getting into,” he opined. Analysts say the move seems likely to intensify China’s anger at American surveillance of the strategic waterway. China, under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, has increasingly contested the right of the United States to conduct surveillance flights over its territorial waters. So US's support for Isreal can take a back seat for the time being. Better sleep with the lessor of 2 evils. Yes. Afterall Msia wud dare not even try to challenge China if China just stepped in n took away some of their islands in the SCS. So the better option wud b for Msia to now support US n try to get some help from US to go fight with China when it comes a knocking on Msia's door. Other than the US, who else can help Msia to stand up against China? Only other option is India but dunno India want to get so involved in the SCS. They already got hands full with the Indian Ocean. Pisces69 6th Gear September 15, 2014 Share September 15, 2014 hahaha... USA haven't kena bolehland pattern yet.... Yes but Bolehland also never really kenna US pattern also. They think US stupid. They know Msia scared shit that China is already knocking on their door n waiting to take away some of their islands in the SCS. Msia dun have the guts or power to stand up against China when it does take those islands. So now Msia no choice but to kiss US ass n get its help. But US wil want some things in return for its help.Lets see what they ask for in return??? And lets see if Msia can say "NO"?
