Actually there is an inverse relationship between length/ amount of hair and income.

No scientific study but just based on my personal observation.

Note to self: Go cut hair today ^_^

A person with more cultural capital would sport hair that is in general, shorter and neater as compared to peers from subcultures or counter cultures who in turn do not posses much of the means of accumulation.

There is a co-relation but only in the context of the practices of the locality we are referring to. In this case, in Singapore, higher tier jobs such as management, executive and directorial positions do require decent haircuts, sans bohemian startups and bona fide corporations with a more funky style. There are always contradictions to the norms, but these are few and token.

The writer is really ultimate badge whore.

How can a 1.2L golf or mini be "premium"?

uhm... he did not state that these two models are premium...

he said " But if you regard all Continental brands as ‘premium’, then, using your very loose definition of the term..." and "if your idea of ‘premium’ means the Big 3 German luxury brands...".

he left it to the reader to gauge for himself what is "premium", and if "premium" shld be decided by badge alone.

I think he is actually mocking the use and definition of the term "premium" by both LTA and consumers here.
