this fraudster was an assistant NUS professor! i pity those who attended his "lectures" lol

Published papers here and also in the US even after being found out. So he must at least know his subject. He is just not the genius he claimed to be :D

More "genie-ass" than genius

I bet I can find plenty of Singaporeans doing this as well.

He has a masters in the same field. Just not a phd. If he had been honest, his future wouldn't be bad either.

I think masters cannot be a prof?

Of course cannot lah. Phd also only a Dr. Prof need to be even more established. Need to publish papers, work in uni and stuff like that.

But this fellow did manage to do enough work to publish papers, in NUS (med school, no less) and also in the US universities (prestigious journal, some more).

Shows he's capable - let's not look at paper qualifications, govt also say [laugh]

Or a lot of people are 'sleeping'.

I don't think there's any doubt he is smart or else he wouldn't have gotten away so easily. He is educated in that field and that helped him pulled it off. As for papers, well... there are always ways to get someone else to write for you [scholar]

HR is only useful to spread rumours (most will turn out true) about HR policy changes / HR appointments / promotions lah.

This is what I thought too.

2 ways one can view this scandal,

1. So what he did not have the relevant certifications but can do the work?

2. Something is definitely wrong with HR in Singapore.. All sleeping??

Must it take another Frank Abagnale to make everyone wake up? Some more technology so advance now, lagi easier to cheat..

its all about assumption

most would think people of this caliber will be honest and with integrity

hence, usually allow self declaration and sign that you declare everything you wrote is nothing but the truth

just like the other professor who sold viagra online

i guess with this second incident the authorities would be more careful from now on

He does seem to be an expert in his field. Maybe he wants to fast forward to his assoc prof position.

Now for him it's more than not looking at his paper qualifications. His integrity is in questions.

I am more concerned that the published results of his experiments were fabricated.
