Like you said so yourself and I am giving him the very same advice that you gave me, if he has a problem, the best is to take his issue with the admin. It is up to the admin to do or not to do something.

 

Secondly, truly, like you told me, no one should teach another how to suck eggs, you certainly don't like to be told, so please do not tell anyone here how to do just that

We all surfing the same forum, yet the views are diametrically opposite with regards to the title of the thread. The issue is, those in the authority should apply the rules and regulations equally to all and including themselves.

 

Those currently enjoying immunity obviously are against or deny it. You can deny all you want but the postings in this forum are "permanent". People can always go back and verify.

 

This forum is now own by SPH, they bought it because I suppose because they see potential in bring in revenue to their pockets. Wondered, how many members (old and new) got turned off - these are revenue generating members too.

I got a warning and a one day ban from posting because I gave my opinion (which was negative) on a sponsored thread hawking some rubbish snake oil.

 

I supposed the merchant complained, my post was deleted and I was persecuted for this. No biggie coz the administration of this forum and the administrators themselves are all rank amateurs who have no clue what they are doing and have no backbone anyway. Can't be bothered about how they go about their business or preen their feathers online.

 

But I must admit I was surprised at the speed at which Laserjet responded to unhappiness of the merchant that a forummer actually had the nerve and balls to Criticize his snake oil product on a thread which he paid for. At the beck and call of paying sponsors at the expense of old time members eh? Whatever happened to frank feedback on merchant products? I guess this is now more of an advertising platform than a real forum either way. Shame, shame and triple shame :-)

 

YNWA.. lets enjoy another year of good attacking football from Liverpool this season...

MCF use to be a very fun place. There is always a wide range of topics. People of all sorts will be replying with their views. Even trolling can be fun to read at times. As long as you don't touch the subject about race or religion, it should be fine.

 

But take a look at the number of threads now. It's always the same old ones. With the same ousual suspects talking and exchanging internal jokes.

 

I think many people have left or stopped posting entirely. If I have to be honest, I believe it as very much to do with a certain mod who controls the topic with an iron hand. He bans people who are make comments that he doesn't like.

 

I don't see such behavavior from other mods. This is exactly why mazdaowner left.

 

He may think he has turned mcf into a well disciplined forum. But he doesn't know that he has changed the forum into a worse place.

 

Note: I certainly don't believe I should be banned again for this post. Or house arrest or whatever you may want to call it.

Exactly. I find some rules are strictly enforced while some are too lax. I don't create new threads that often anymore becoz of this ridiculous rules. You see ancient thread being resurrected becoz of this and people who don't read the dates replying to post that are more than 2 yrs old.

Off topic events seems to be tolerated.

Lazy la haha, until a certain issue gets my goat. And that is about religion more than half the time, which mean I will inevitably offend some sensitive Christians and end up getting a handful of complaints and yellow cards 🎴

 

The forum has been infested with too many wannabes who are dying to show off their wealth and their wannabe followers, usually with the lame refrains of "Calling XX, the income Tax he pays can Buy a 777 jetliner!!" followed by the typical "no la u Richer la, No la YYY is richer lah"

 

How juvenile. The Forum has gone Downhill Since Madaowner left. Now That was A Real man I respected.

 

This forum is A Convenient way of getting my Regular updates on local News Though. Haha!

 

 

Please don't let that stop you from posting more,

 

we need people to being us more light.

I think we need to set a clearer rule for that... a timeline for aging of the thread if not... how to know which thread is relevant with all the different type of description that creatively named by creative thread starter.

My favorite all time was Sabbie... ever since he got banned... the forum seem such a sad place...

quite frankly everyone knew he was just someone full of shit...

but somehow the mods wanted him out...

 

he used to be the one that made afternoons fun and good to read and entertain myself...

purpose of the forum..

 

1) find out information

2) entertain myself while at work

3) Chit chatting 吹水

 

Now it is just a world of how others wants it to be...

I don't blame anyone for wanting that but I still believe we should allow some fun around...

it is up to every individual to just read and take it seriously or just a joke...

If you have spent anytime in publishing here, you would know that this is the way that it is.

 

Negative opinions, even those fully supported by facts and research are not often seen in any magazines here - whether it be motoring, fashion, lifestyle or anything else.

 

And quite frankly - who would you support in the short term? The one that pays you money, or the one that doesn't?

 

To build a strong forum (or magazine) takes time, it takes patience and it takes a lot of strength and investment of blood sweat and tears.

 

I have seen people try to "take on" MCF, (and SGCarmart) and replicate their success - even the might of Singapore's biggest publishing houses couldn't accomplish it.

 

I think you would probably (hopefully) find that now there is the strength of community, following and respect now for MCF such that individual advertisers can be told to go screw - HOWEVER - the motoring market is still overcrowded in Singapore. SO next time do spare a thought for the brave souls that are toiling in the industry trying to bring you credible news.

I observe but I don't bother anymore.
