If you very honest type, llst claim own insurance. Complain to insurance they will also ask you to llst cos there is no law to say the other must give info. The other party must have kena before so he knows the law cannot touch him.

 

But if got passenger, say he/she kena whiplash or injury. Call ambulance and police. If other party still don't want to give it'll be a hit and run case and can become police case cos the other party is obligated to give info to police.

Take picture of license plate and car model. Your workshop or AD can do a legal search to find the bugger's details. Will cost you a few bucks.

If it's a Sg car, u just need a picture of his license plate number. Cannot run one. At most treat it as a hit and run case which is a official traffic offence, but will consume more time to claim and can't settle privately.

But it's a foreign vehicle, good luck.

A technical question.

 

If both cars stopped, the other party refused to exchange particulars, he/she did step out of his/her car, but he/she drove off subsequently. Is this considered hit and run?

Nope. No hit and run. Also it's not required by law to exchange particulars. Blame the law makers..I find tat rather stupid as well

How about this Sec 84 of Road Traffic Act:

Duty to stop in case of accident

84.

—(1) If in any case owing to the presence of a motor vehicle on a road an accident occurs whereby damage or injury is caused to any person, vehicle, structure or animal, the driver of the motor vehicle shall stop and, if required to do so by any person having reasonable grounds for so requiring, give his name and address and also the name and address of the owner and the identification marks of the motor vehicle.

(2) If in the case of any such accident as aforesaid the driver of the motor vehicle for any reason does not give his name and address to any such person as aforesaid, he shall report the accident at a police station or to a police officer as soon as reasonably practicable and, in any case, within 24 hours of the occurrence thereof.
Can someone interpret it??

if the other party wants to play punk, you just call police say you not feeling very well after the accident, need a ambulance. like that he/she LL has to surrender his/her lic.

If anyone do that to me, i will dial 995 immediately.

I will say I am not feeling well (even I am ok) and insist to be taken in to the hospital.

If they don't want to pick me up or TP say I can't go into the ambulance, I would say if anything happen to me while I make myself to the hospital, I will sue you.

So it will be automatically be a police case already.

I get to know this from last claim, if the other party doesn't respond and file report after our insurer makes a claim on the other party insurance, they lose their NCD as well. Although we suck thumb either do own claim or self repair

Write down car number, take photo, make police report, claim from his insurance, case closed. No need personal particular la. First time meh...unless self settlement!!

1. Take photo of both cars (dented/broken areas, licence nos), and the accident place (surrounding area, signages)

2. Call Insurance Company

3. Make Police Report

4. Go workshop

5. CLAIM CLAIM CLAIM !!!

 

Lastly, don't panic and don't worry :)

Get a replacement car, and your life is back to normal :D
