Finally, Ford Focus coming with their Eco-boost 😄👍

 

The New and Improved Ford Focus

 

The new Ford Focus will enhance its reputation as the world's best-selling car with a bolder exterior design, a well crafted, intuitive new interior and about 18 new or improved driver assistance technologies and fuel economy improvements.

 

Available in five -door and estate body styles, the new Focus has a lower, wider stance, with a new bonnet, front fascia and grille. The bonnet is sculpted with a dynamic shape from the front pillar to the corners of the upper part of the inverted trapezoidal grille to deliver a strong, proud look. Slimmer, chiselled front headlamps and elongated fog-lamps add to the bolder front end. Subtle chrome details add to the feeling of elegance while the rear of the car also is sleeker with a new fascia and tailgate arrangement, as well as thinner tail lamps.

 

As for the interior of the new Focus, Ford listened to customer feedback and responded with a more intuitive layout, complemented by a steering wheel and central stack with fewer controls and switches. The new black satin trim and chrome detailing contribute to a cleaner, more modern look. The redesigned centre storage console offers more space as well as a new sliding, integrated armrest. The adjustable console accommodates a variety of bottles and cups with the capacity to hold a one-litre water bottle and a 0.4-litre cup simultaneously.

 

The new Focus offers fuel efficiency improvements of up to 15% compared with the current model, and a significant reduction in CO2 emissions across the range. New Focus will continue to offer a 99 g/km CO2 100PS 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine variant.

 

The new Focus also will be offered with Fords new fuel-efficient 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, available with 150PS and 182PS with a new six-speed automatic gearbox. When mated to the six-speed manual gearbox the engine will deliver a seven per cent fuel efficiency improvement compared with the outgoing 1.6-litre EcoBoost engine that offered equivalent power. In 2015 it also will be offered with a six-speed automatic transmission.

 

It will also be offered for the first time with Fords 1.5-litre TDCi diesel, available with 95PS or 120PS, and a 10% fuel efficiency improvement compared to the 1.6-litre engine it replaces. The 150PS 2.0-litre TDCi model with six-speed manual gearbox will deliver a 15 per cent improvement over the previous 140PS model.

 

Yes I just read over the net a few days ago.

1.5 Ecoboot offers 150ps but with over 250nm of torque. This will make city driving a breeze.

 

I'm having this on my radar liao. But I'm thinking the price will be around 130 to 140k range based on today's COE.

The worst thing to happen is ford to bring the 100ps version instead just to put it in Cat A. Then the car will be the latest victim of LTA's ridiculous COE horsepower capping rule!

I assume the 6AT is really 6AT and not a DCT system. [sweatdrop]

 

Think in SG sure is the DCT system. But I did some research, the Ford's DCT is by Getrag and so far they are pretty reliable. At least not as bad as VW, last heard even the new Golf's 7DSG also got problem..

 

Really running out of options to replace my current ride when the COE expires. Can't find a car that is as spacious, 154ps or above, comfortably affordable and having reliability of a Jap car.....haiz..

Ya, really hope so 😀😊 nvr once will regret gettg a Ford Focus n since now hv Eco-boost. Had MK1 for 4 yrs n MK2 for 5.5yrs 😄👍

I am more interested in the 1.5L TDCi engine with 120bhp.

But hope the td has at or wet dct option . Noted that sometomes makers only mave mt for td . Oso may 1 to think bot this .....120hp 4 to 8 mths appr. 95hp 3 -4 wks approval. Oso good to choose the one where cruise at 90 have 2k rpm in top gear else the pdf have issue as cannot burn off deppsits .

Actually, true in the sense that u have more control over rpm which seems so criticle in ensuring that the euro 5 spec stays at euro 5 spec .

 

If i'm go for this eco series, likely woould be the 1.5 95hp version. td.

Sounds like a 3 cyln with 0.5 boost? In this case, I think torque wont be more than 170nm.?

U could be right. Maybe same engine as Fiesta 1.0L

This new -gen 1.5L ecoboost is also tuned to output 170bhp and more torque, and will be offered on the incoming Mondeo.

 

Am keeping an eye on that, or the revamped 2L ecoboost outputting 260 BHP.

Recently Ford in the news for the worng reason. Forward guidance on earning less than 1 billion and spending almost half a billion to recall faulty airbags in their cars.

same fondness I had for my previous ford focus. everything is good except for the poor pick up which was the main reason why I sold it. but somehow, I remain doubtful if I make the correct decision in letting go of it.

 

that's why for my next change of cars, ford remains as one of the possible choice of badge.

 

If power was the main reason you let go the focus, I believe they are back in the game with the ecoboost :wub:

yeah. but they have so far only planted the ecoboost on the s-max and fiesta only recently..possibly also the mondeo but I can't be sure. so there are not many resale units to choose from

 

I did have a serious consideration of going for the s-max......but my wife wants something with moonroof like the vw touran....

 

me still thinking while waiting for my coe on current car to run out....

so uncles think alike, S-Max ecoboost 2.0 (240ps) was also on my radar a while back :D

 

but will probably scrap the idea now. probably will consider extending my current COE, can't bear to part with the manual.

 

The only other manual options out there are ST, new WRX, and new Type R, which I think will be too far fetch for me [bigcry]
