What your advise you can check yourself but if the crack are not severe it usually starts on the inner side of the belt which is not easy to notice probably need to take it out. If crack is visual on the outside means it time to change. check your user manual usually it is around 80k to 100k together with your timing belt but nowadays most car on timing chain now people tend to overlook the auxiliary belt change. Ivanpaseo 2nd Gear August 26, 2014 Share August 26, 2014 Thk. Will the rubber get harden...if dun change and crack and snap...? same thing the rubber crack because it loses it ability to flex as it hardens and eventually it snaps since it becomes brittle. Ichibawa 5th Gear April 27, 2015 Share April 27, 2015 You will need to bend the ribs area inside out to verify if it has harden and if there are any cracks. You can also check if the sides are fraying. In general, 5 years seems a bit long. Get a mechanic to verify and change if required. Fan belt won't cost a lot. Hosaybo 6th Gear April 27, 2015 Share April 27, 2015 Your issue is not the mileage but rather the timeline.5 years is stretching it pretty far, esp if the car is park in open air under the hot sun. Rubber harden and becomes brittlr over time.
yo2020 6th Gear April 28, 2015 Share April 28, 2015 (edited) change it lor, if recalled correctly the rubber costs abt $50 only (b4 labour) for bnb cars. Edited April 28, 2015 by yo2020 ↡ Advertisement
