Looking at record of my current car, max day to change is 3 years or around 60 - 70k mileage, using Michelin MX1 of tread wear 320.

Current set of tyres is MX2 of tread wear 420, may last longer of running mileage but will watch out and change at around 3 years max.

Talk abut tyres, some ppl here dun even want to do EO change for more than 2-3 years, simply the manual say Jap cars last a lifetime, In true, one of my college who drive a GS300 never even top-up EO, let lane change it, no filter change either, except battery change in his 5-6 yrs driving.

I asked him why, he simply replied he never have to, Lexus cars are built to last, if anything goes wrong wif the car, he will sue the coy,

I cant believe my ears.

Best part, he is still driving today and the car still on good running condition.

Probably, he did sent his car to borneo but do not know what the hell they are doing.

Simply leave the car there, and pick up later. [:p]

I trust you, my father in law Nissan sunny never do any servicing for 20 years plus, and it was struggling to survive till now. Only top up engine oil and the exhaust smoke came out was terrible + horrible. He just told me, if send to workshop, this nissan sunny will need extreme makeover, so just leave it till die.

I apologized for my poor statement presented

I meant is OK or safe to use a tyre of within 5-6 year old from date production (only applied to premium brand tyre)

I normally use my tyre around 2 years on the road and just make sure I put on is ard 3 year or less dated tyre.

are you comfortable with driving around on tyres manufactured 10 years ago?

of course no comfortable to run on 10 years old tyre

and no shop should see you a 10 years old tyre too in Singapore I believe.

but I know they are some car carry a 10 years old spare tyre

Same thoughts as you.

i believe you should be from the tyre industry. Your points and advices from tyres put many so called 'experts' to shame.

From your previous post, yah, its true that certain (branded) tyre makers that said that their tyres can last 3 to 5 years with proper storage and that is before factoring in that installed on a ride which usually use for another further 1.5 to 3years.

Because tyre dealers do not buy what they need last min.

they pre ordered (in mixed sizes) and to fill up the container prior shipment to our shores...

(at least thats what i learn from a guru)

we as consumer have a choice, if I see tyres with date stamp from 2011, I'll definitely ask another shop for availability of newer stocks. even if it cost a little more, I think it's worth it. you never know how the tyres were stored, thus the only control a consumer has is how new the tyres are.

I am not trying to pin pointing anyone here.

just simply sharing my views regardless of my back ground.

and also the indentions are to avoid some unrealistic views / misleading also misrepresent

consumers are protected by our consumer law here , one can always go back reasonably demand for reasonable answer or explanations from the shop you purchased.

My personal POV is go to your regular shop which you used them for long run / reputable / or authorized distributor referral which you will get the better deal like manufacturers Product Quality assurance.

anyway thanks for the feedback and noted [thumbsup]
