Acemundo Supercharged August 16, 2014 Share August 16, 2014 I am wondering if Malaysia accepts import of 10-year old sg car and if yes,any procedures to certify and register it in malaysia? considering Malaysia is our neighbour, if rules permitting, we can even drive it across as mode of export, the export cost would be next to nothing. Anyone done it before or knows how to do it? ↡ Advertisement

Windchoco 1st Gear August 18, 2014 Share August 18, 2014 Not sure of the current status but I last heard that under "Malaysia my 2nd home" scheme, importing of foreign vehicle is allowed and logically they could have made it now easier since they want to attract foreigners to the scheme.

Unless u r one of Najib's cronies, not easy to get such a permit. And those who can get their hands on one (or a dozen....) would usually import a merc, bmw from UK where they can resell for a huge markup.

Malaysia's vehicle import rules is a show stopper. and circumventing the rule can't happen for ordinary buyers. so I am convinced not to research anymore on it......hehe

Amazon777 3rd Gear August 18, 2014 Share August 18, 2014 (edited) Many years ago, my ex-colleague exported the old classic BMW 2002Ti from SGP to Aussie. His family emigrated from MY to Aus decades back but he came to SG for brief working stint and brought the 2002Ti back home after leaving SG Edited August 18, 2014 by Amazon777 ↡ Advertisement
