its now coming to the time of the year where bro O23 is most active. Transfer season :D

Unfair bro. I have been active here throughout :D

 

Anyway, clubs now already signing players before window open - Depay to Man U. Have to be on my toes throughout season. Lol

Yes. No more manager in that structure. Yup, Poch is technically the head coach. Just like Pellegrini.

 

Please do not see this as anything new. All major European Leagues are running DoF/Head Coach structure apart from BPL.

 

If you observed during European competitions like UCL and UEL, when the camera zooms in to the person in the dugout, the title is always "Head Coach"

Former Pool greats Dietmar Hamann and Jan Molby giving their views on the Sterling saga

at the Pool Player of the Year awards night. The views from this 2 are more balanced I feel as they acknowledge that in this modern era, the power is with the players and not the club.

 

Carragher and Thompson being Pool legends have blasted RS from being greedy to making their stomachs turn, abit biased IMO.

I think it is down to the fact that Carra and Thommo are scousers. Liverpool is deep in their hearts and thus will tend to be more biased towards the club. What Sterling is doing to them, is an insult to the club and showing huge disrespect. Hence their reaction.

 

Didi and Big Jan on the other hand, are honorary scousers at most, so can see it from a more balanced perspective.

 

I like Didi's comment the most.

 

"If Sterling wants to go let him. We not won much with him so we will be ok without him. We need players who want to be here and commit."

 

Sterling's camp trying to push that Pool are bullying him into extending didn't really go well too. Many footballers were joking that they don't mind being bullied if such contract is offered. Lol

He is not badly paid at all and the new deal is already lucurative by any stretch of the imagination.

 

instead of being grateful, esp to BR who stood by him in his bad behaviour law trials not too long ago, now he tries to act pitiful and accuse the club of bullying him into a cut-throat deal, which will make him lose that extra 50-20k pd per week.

 

i think if Sterling is to make a U-turn, I would say time is running out. The club at this pt, is obligated to sell him and squeeze the last juice for these trash that they have to endure from him. Fans are already turning against him, big time.

Fully agreed and that's why I'm not expecting RS to be loyal as say SG as he's not a scouser.

 

On a separate note, I can't remember which Pool legend who mentioned that modern Pool were very unlike the old days where they could tap on the local youths to play for the club. He said Pool should focus on that area rather than scouting the country or worse still Europe for young players cos the commitment level is not the same and it costs more as well.

 

Whilst he is not entirely wrong, this is the effect of globalization not only in football. The old days and ways no matter how noble is long gone and if you have to scout the ends of the earth for talent so be it. There's a saying that you don't live in the past but instead make sure you are equipped for the future. Pool can't be living off past glories but in this area I believe the club is aware of this. Old legends don't help matters sometimes by reminiscing on how it was in the past and how loyal players were, 1 club men, able to attract talent with the illustrious Pool name etc. This is the 21st century and that kind of thinking is really old school........

Not forgetting that mid season holiday in Jamaica to recharge bro. I cannot remember which player got such a privilege before him.

seems like little way to make a U-turn. Bridges with the fan already burnt.

 

let's see how things pan out for the Pool's mgmt. one thing for sure, they really cant work with the current system of the famed or nortious transfer committee. either they give full power to BR or take away everything to the DoF. On the looks of things, the latter looks more likely and the owners have a better bargaining power since BR underperformed this season...

Agree money talks but hor, some of your examples not really accurate.

 

Salah agreed personal terms with us but we dragged out the negotiation with his club Basel, giving Chelsea the chance to pay up what Basel demanded and got him. He ended up getting more pay from Chelsea but that is not the deciding factor.

 

Sigurdsson yes as Spurs offered more. Shaw we didn't go for him as we know the transfer fee is too high to make any sense. Barry we wanted him in 2008 and he wanted to come, even falling out with Martin ONeill when Villa refused to drop asking price. Pool can't afford as transfer budget was used on Keane whom Rafa didn't really need. Ended up, Barry join City in 2009. We didn't compete with City for him.

 

As for Hazard and Aguero, we did not make our moves. Not that we are not interested but we know we can't match their wage demand.

 

So strictly speaking, only Sigurdsoon rejected us for more money elsewhere.

Player power is mostly $ driven I must agree.

 

That said, few players do get motivated by other means like more playing time, better chance to win trophies etc. Milner is 1 eg, City paying him more than Pool or Arsenal ever will but he wants to play regularly cos he feels he doesn't have enough of playing time at City so willing to forego $. Admittedly few players with this mindset.

Slaven Bilic has parted ways with Turkish club Besiktas. He is now favourite to be West Ham manager this summer.

 

Either Rafa had said no or they are tired of waiting
