Hi Gurus,

Can i ask if i purchase a 2015 kia sorento, will i be able to modify the chunky fog light to the updated "4 ice cube" fog light instead as i like the look better. If so, any idea where can i install it and how much?

As also, will you recommend a petrol or diesel version and why. Thank you Guys!

And Merry Xmas!

The housing looks different... unlikely you can simply shoe horn the new lights in...

I feel that Kia as a make has been really making the effort to design their cars to suit the masses and it is getting more popular and designs are getting nicer also.

yes, you can. some of us bought online (200+) and have the ice cubes installed locally (100). you can search ebay or taobao.

diesel for the torque. makes the car truly effortless to drive.

cheaper too if you are a high mileage person.

Yes agree with that.

Kia has 3 petrol engines and 1 diesel engine for the 2015 Sorento. Base petrol engine is the 2.4L, then 2.0L turbo, and the top spec is the 3.3L V6.

The one in Singapore is the 2.4L base engine. If you check prices in Australia, the 2.2L diesel is more expensive than the 3.3L V6 petrol.

So unless the 2.4L petrol is considerably cheaper, or you have a strong preference for petrol, the 2.2L diesel would appear to be better value as well.

Agree... just get it before LTA revises diesel rules...

First comparison test for the 2018 Sorento vs the CX-9 and the Toyota Kluger.

https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-reviews/mazda-cx-9-toyota-kluger-kia-sorento-63946

Notable takeaways are :-

1. Sorento and CX-9 were clear winners, with the Kluger a distant 3rd

2. Sorento and CX-9 were very close, so which one you pick would depend on your preferences on each vehicle's respective strengths

3. Sorento and CX-9 pricing is very close

--> $43.8k for CX-9 vs $42.9k for Sorento

--> In fact if the 2.2L diesel used in Singapore were used instead, the price of the Sorento would have been $44.9k, making it more expensive than both the Kluger and the CX-9)

--> This serves to highlight the absurdities of pricing relativities in Singapore where the CX-9 is $30 - 40k more expensive than the equivalent Sorento

Yep, hence with the AD pricing here, need to do global price benchmarking to determine fair value.

For me, would hate to find out I paid 30-40% over implied fair value based on pricing relativities on a post-purchase basis.

But different strokes for different folks - I acknowledge that this point is more important for some people than for others.

Just now went to test drive the 2018 Sorento SX.

Seems like Kia has updated the steering feel.. it definitely felt much better and weighted now instead steering “air” which was overly light in previous version.

2.2diesel engine was rough in sports mode as i tried to pick up speed quickly. Other than that, once cruising, was pleasant and can’t really hear the diesel chatter.

Interior was spacious as always. Dont think theres much difference.

Price $144,900. Value for $$$ and seriously considering.

Big price difference between GT line and SX. What are the differences in feature set?

Just beware that once older, you sure will get some diesel clatter and vibrations. Inevitable... but won't be very bad lar... you can use those 7-year old Sonata taxis as a benchmark lor... those have very little insulation... so you can expect your Sorento to be significantly quieter...

Main difference is AWD in the GT line vs 2WD.

Other than that merely comestics.. paddler shifters, nicer leather seats, sidedoor steps etc..

Also VES is in a different band in GT line.

U can download the E-brouchure in sgcarmart.. clearly shows all the haves/don’t haves

Its an excellent car which ticks a lot of boxes.

A leading contender in the CX-9/Highlander/Pilot compset that's priced below the top spec vehicles from a tier down in Singapore (i.e the CX-5/RAV4/CRV)

Hard to find better value.
