Start of my retractable sidestep mod. Arrival of Parts... :D

Hi Bernsoh, the retractable sidestep look really cool.. It opens when either front or back doors open ? If the driver opens the door, the side step on the driver side is activated or both sides swings out?

From what i know, it will only swings out on the side where door(s) is/ are opened. In another word, only the driver side will swing out when the driver opens the door.

Can I ask if anyone booked under the non guaranteed package? The sales advisor strongly encouraged to take up guaranteed package. Now Kia Singapore is selling on ex stock basis, immediate delivery once coe is secured.

There are a few management cars on offer, further discount is available if one choose to take up the offer. The difference between EX and SX is $13k, is it still worth to buy the SX model?

hi. i booked under guaranteed. got a rebate in the end. if you believe coe is going to drop, just go for non-guaranteed. if you think it's going up, go for guaranteed. it's anyone's guess

i chose sx mainly for the ventilated seats. it all depends on what features you need so badly that is/are only available in sx. now that the price range is 13k, i must admit the ex seems to be more enticing. i wouldnt have paid 13k more last year.

hope that helps.

SX for sure. All the factory fitted extras cannot get aftermarket. It gives the Sorento an upmarket feel as it's better spec than some conti costing almost $300k.

Hi all

I am thinking of buy a Kia Sorrento and I am totally new to Korean cars. I am also new to Diesel cars.

I have been reading all the mods that can bought such as the retractable side step and front/back bumper. Does this invalidate the warranty from C&C?

I see all good reviews on the Sorrento. Anyone has any problems so far? I am a high mileage driver and need a reliable car. I am driving the Landrover now which gives me some headache..

Any advise would really be appreciated, before I make the jump.

Thanks

Jeffrey

I've had the car for a couple of months - no issues so far.

I was new to Kia/diesel as well, so reliability was frankly my worry as well. The recent JD Power reports / Consumer Reports on both Kia and Kia Sorento specifically gave me some confidence. Also, the 5-yr warranty (& 10-yr powertrain warranty) from a reliable AD like CnC helped in that regards.

Re mods, think most should not invalidate warranty except perhaps for the specific item being modified (ie if you replace head unit with after market version, was told by my SE that only the warranty relating to the head unit will be affected), but best to confirm with SE with the specific mod being contemplated.

Per DSMan's note above, we also have a group chat going with new owners, with experience ranging from new to 1.5-yrs. To summarize :-

- Even split of petrol / diesel owners (most diesel owners are new to diesel)

- We have a number of Kia loyalists, but the majority are new to Kia (w/ a number of ex conti owners)

- General consensus/reason for selection is that the Sorento offers unmatched value at the price point (actual comp should be Pilot/Highlander/Santa Fe LWB but priced like RAV4/CRV/Santa Fe Sport)

- Ownership experience has generally been positive, with refinement, power, good FC being the main praises

- Some have had minor issues with the cars, but no one has had any major issues with the car to date and covered by CnC warranty

- Basically nothing here that would have made me re-consider the purchase

Thanks so much for your explanation, especially your last point. Gives me better confidence. I will go for a final test drive next week before I decide. I also want to go take a look at the Santa Fe as I have not seen it yet.

In terms of accessories at the point of purchase, what are the freebies that they will give? They seem rather reluctant when I spoke to them last time.

Is there a way I can be added into the whatsapp group? I am not an owner yet but will be good to gain some knowledge yet. I will exit myself if I dun buy it in the end.

Thanks

Jeffrey
