The mall PR very professional.

Wish the boy speedy recovery

+ arrange mall contractor to check all glass doors.

Not really sure if they really meant it. But hear already feel good.

Yes they do feedback and feedforward

They managed to ensure everyone that their mall will be safe

Not true, it hiding behind something and hand shaking some more ?

He was filming from the CCTV recording as you can see the other frame of video beside. Question is who film and leak the CCTV clip?

But then the boy and his parents is partly responsible for the incident.

Not the whole door ( frame and 'glass' ) was detached - only the 'glass' piece.

Why the 'glass' piece' seems flexible? When the parents lifted it, it curved like some plastic.

anyone can confirm what 'glass' is this?

Imo, I think something is wrong with the door design.. If a young kid can cause it to smash up like that, it's a matter of time...one day how many times the door swing out and if at full swing out, it could hit something, then there is a flaw...

A four-year-old boy was hurt after a glass door at Westgate mall in Jurong East reportedly fell on top of him.
A member of the public who only wants to be known as "Paul" sent in photos of the aftermath. He says he heard from the boy's mother that the glass door - about three-metres high - just outside of NTUC's My First Skool childcare centre and a Fitness First gym, leading to the outdoor area on Level 5, detached and fell on top of the boy just before 6pm.
Mr Paul says the boy's entire body was pinned down by the door, and that he was lying facedown when he arrived shortly after. The boy's right cheek appeared to be bruised. There were also traces of blood on the ground.
"Because the glass door is tempered glass, it shattered within," said Mr Paul. He says two staff members from the nearby Westgate Kids Club brought a first aid kit to tend to the boy, and a doctor from a clinic one level down came up to assist as well.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirms it received a call on the incident at 6:05pm, and says the boy suffered a cut to the back of his head and reported having neck pains.
He was sent conscious to the National University Hospital, accompanied by his mother and mall staff.
A spokesperson for Westgate mall says the boy was swinging the glass door the time of the accident. "Our investigations revealed that the boy had over-extended the glass door when he swung it, causing it to hit the door frame and shatter," said Ms Mandy Chiu, the marketing communications manager for Westgate in a statement to Channel NewsAsia.
The boy remains in hospital for observation, but is in stable condition. "We wish him a speedy recovery, and continue to extend our help to him and his family," said Ms Chiu.
The mall's contractor will be conducting safety checks on its glass doors and panels overnight, to prevent a recurrence of such an incident.

IMHO, I would think both parties are liable.

First, of course, the parents of the boy, where are they when the boy is playing with the glass door?

Shouldn't they be watching over the boy or at least tell the boy not to play with the glass door?

Of course, the westgate management is also partly at fault. Why? Becos the glass door can come down so easily, isn't it weird? Anyway, how much strength can a 4-year old boiy push the glass door to cause it crashing down?

What if a man like us, push the door hard enough, would it come crashing down on us? Where is the stress test done on this door?

Anyway, its an accident waiting to happen, and it did.

Hope both parties can learnt from this: the parents and the management.

If it happen on an adult, the adult won't be sitting on the floor for it to fall on us like what happen to the boy in the video.

Anything that was push to the extreme sure give way one.

in some countries the parents could've been interrogated, and have the kid taken away as parents are considered unfit

If the kid didn't mess with the door it won't happen. It's impossible to built everything to take care of misuse. Stress test done on the door? You got to be kidding right? Please let us know what type of products you buy and what level of safety so you demand on it and how much extra you will pay to demand the extra safety.

Maybe Spore now no longkang n forested places to play catch fish n spider.

Or if have parents don't want their precious DS to get heat stroke playing outdoor or maybe parents scared to accompany their DS as cannot tahan outdoor.

Whatever reasons, "responsibility" & "common sense" are the obviously absent here.
