Yes true, those prejudice better throw aside

I recall a British guy arrogantly told me that he's once my colonial master

A group of Japanese 4 of them apologised to me for what they had done to S'pore in WW2

Again all those unimaginable encounter hahaha

Yes definitely, during the backpack solo

Everyone experience loneliness so it's very easy to click with the opposite sex

Let take this for eg.

I'm now in Penang and my next destination is Bangkok. Probably some guys or gals in the hostel also share same iternary thus we travel together again and camp in the same next hostel

Those who done solo backpack should understand what I'm trying to tell hahaha

What if no condom ? Shiok Shiok satay :o

Mode of transport mainly are train and coach, occasionally plane when there's no land connection in between

I took no paid leave previously

U will start to appreciate S'pore passport when u start your journey, we are visa free in many countries

Don't need to worry about condom, it's easy available anywhere hahaha

Guess I'm the opposite.

I don't have any inclination to travel if I'm not with another person (wife/family/friend).

Mr Boring, that's me!

Been to a couple of places. Best to start off with a place where you can speak the language (English/Chinese or whatever), so at least communication no problem.

I did three weeks travelling solo in Melbourne a couple of years ago. Melbourne is a very nice, very livable city. Public transport is excellent, everyone speaks English (duh), and it's mostly quite easy to get around.

Don't beat yourself up over the no-gf status. Spend time developing yourself. The girls will come with confidence, experience and $$$ (to a lesser extent). I traveled widely when I started work. I took 2-3 months sabbatical with boss' approval. I've treaded in places with conflict, almost lost my life on a deserted snow filled Alaskan road, got cheated off US$200 in Italy and many more. Those are experiences schools don't provide.

Yes agreed schools don't provide the experience . Your trip to Alaskan and Italy how long have u stayed there? Sorry to hear the obstacles u have encountered.. Think i should develop myself. I spent most time at work and then home. Think i should change all these...

I spent close to 2 weeks in Italy and covered Rome, Venice, Firenze, Napoli, Sicily, Milan and Pisa. Was in Alaska for about a week (part of a longer trip to North America). The Alaska trip was a little crazy. I touched down Ted Stevens Airport in Anchorage close to midnight enroute from Seattle and immediately drove 9 hours to Fairbanks. Edited by Porker

my most memorable solo trip was during my first visit to USA. spent 18 days in California and Nevada. lots of things to see, do and buy. but just not enough time.

I used to travel solo and backpack a bit, mostly all over China.

Miss those times.

Own time own target. Go where you wanna go. Eat what you wanna eat. Wake up when you want. No restrictions.

I travelled solo mostly when I was 17-18 years old. That time has energy, drive , no fear, no plans I would just take some money, passport, pack a few clothes and go. When parents found out, I have already gone. Those were the days.

Not much $$$, so sleep in ferry terminals, airports, busstop, anywhere as long there is a bench. Sometimes at night got gangsters approach for money and need to negotiate. Funny thing is, few times wake up at the bustop with some money beside me. Humanity is not that cruel afterall.

During this trip, Vietnam was an eye opener. Back then, there were many bad news about Vietnam, but I found that it is a country full of hard working and honest people. Strange thing is, Vietnam happen to be the safest for me to sleep in the open at night because there were so many other people doing the same. Later a church took me in, so it became my accommodation in Vietnam. Love that place.

Anyway, won't be doing such stuff ever again.

please remember whenever you go solo trip let your family members or friend have your itinerary/travel plan (especially when you will be back) or better still drop a line to the consulate of Singapore

it is always better to be save than sorry
