Don't quite understand why they release this, isn't it similar if not same as the 3series? I thought they created the 4 series to replace the 3series coupe?

this is what i learnt from BMW World:

 

Its a smaller 6 Series Gran Coupe like how the CLA is a smaller CLS.

 

Th 4 GC is also not a traditional sedan, it is a liftback, the boot size is slightly smaller compared to the 3 Series sedan and the roofline is different.

 

The 4 GC is better off as a 2 + 2 and has frameless windows, while the 3 Series is more generous with room for rear occupants.

The car is on display at PML showroom and you can see the 4 series gc and 3 series sedan side by side. The price difference between a 420 gc and a 320 sedan is about $25K.

Look like a lowered and shorter 3GT.

Pity it doesnt have the same auto activated spoiler like the 3GT.

Visually it look great.

Also, probably made in Germany (compared to made in RSA 3er)

all along i thot audi started...with a1,a3,a4,a5,a6,a7,a8....then got simi sportback etc..

I believe the 4 is a baby 6 similar to the Merc (CLA vs CLS) and Audi (A5 vs A7).

 

Looking at the same marque, for the 6, it is position between the 5 and the 7; more sleek and sportier than the 7 (which is a bit of an “old man’s car”) and more road presence than the 5 (5 too common?). For the 4, I would imagine that is the same approach for the 4 whereby it is an in between the 3 and the 5 but in my opinion, it is less obvious compared to the 6vs5vs7. Nonetheless, the 4GC is a nice looking car. Enjoy your shopping!

i believe the current nomenclature would be:

 

1 / 3 / 5 / 7 / X3 / X5 -- regular variant be it sedan or SUV

 

2 / 4 / 6 / X4 / X6-- sportier variant

 

these include the X ...... on Youtube bimmer has a X4 now which has the same weird look as their other GT.

Heard from the SE that delivery should be in 6 months, around February next year but most likely earlier. They always give worse case scenario

Wah 25k more ex ah....I understand it has exactly the same engine as the 320....how about the OMV? Will the 420GC OMV be similar to 320 sedan or higher?

In Germany, there is EUR 6k difference in starting price btw both models.

 

4GC is a lifestyle car. Definitely more ex than b&b model.
