May be van driver is not drunk or what, looks like he purposely wracked the car.

 

Video not showing the full story, not sure what happen earlier:

1) car was hogging in lane 1 and van in lane 3

2) van intentionally moved from lane 3 to 1 just to hit the car and speed off

3) the road is empty except these 2 vehicles, why van go and kissed the car?

4) if driver is drunk, he wont react so fast and speed off

You should get a better rear cam... your one is 640 by 480 right? not sharp enuf and wide enuf to see him coming.. DR550G not that good afterall... Buy a cheap china made 1080p with WDR and you can have wider and sharper field of view...

 

Anyway, good luck in catching this idiot who almost killed you.. he should be jailed for life... take care and god bless... hope insurance can cover your loss...

I watched the rear cam n see the van swerving a lot b4 he hit the car.

 

Likely driver was drunk or asleep.

Best wud b for TS to pass the cam recordings to her insurance co for them to investigate.

 

They have the means n ways to get more info on the van.

 

They wil try to find out cos they wil then claim on ther vans insurance to recover what they have paid to repair the car.

If van did not hit driver, then driver become road hogger. Maybe Transcab taxi will hit make driver hit him instead?

 

In any case, to me the van driver seems to have fallen asleep at the wheel as the vehicle was moving constantly to one side, instead of swinging from side to side. I've seen before, the poor boy did not even know he had fallen asleep at the wheel when he went straight for the back wheel of a tipper truck.

 

But van driver shouldn't have run away.

Actually, the driver should have just chased the van when she realised he was gonna hit and run right? Your car gets damaged from the rear with video evidence, why should you stop in the tunnel? That's dangerous for vehicles behind too.

 

If someone can drag a body a few hundred metres along Upper Serangoon Road, dislodge the body outside a MRT station with hundreds of spectators and the car can still go missing (eventually found at Paya Lebar area), what makes you think they can trace the car plate number of a hit-and-run van? Honestly, if I were an unlicensed or drunk driver, I would definitely have done that too. Later on, can use the superior Lexus-like soundproofing of the van to explain why he didn't stop after the accident haha!

To TS, i can share your feelings. Just had a hit and run case recently in woodlands checkpoint. Of cos, can't give chase as everyone is busy cutting into the clearance lanes. Luckily, I have front cam installed, and it clearly shown that idiot license plate. Actually, the damage is small, can be settled under $300. But it's the unjust feeling which urged me to report to police and insurance Co. on next day. Sometimes, it's not about the money, I think it's more to do with principles. If he were to stop after the custom and settle privately, I will be more than glad.

 

anyway, roughly how long the 3rd party claim will take place? The damage has been assessed by the other insurer rep, so can confirm that driver had reported also right? Ws said they will contact me once the other insurance Co. has concur the damage cost and whose fault.

Just wanna comment. Two years ago i kenna an accident at the roundabout at marine parade. Car sideswiped me. I posted on this forum.

 

I wanted to stop to take the pics but my female friends screamed not to stop cos it was dangerous. I moved to a space place to settle but because i moved, the stomp charged. That was before i got my car camera.

 

 

Lesson? Sometimes who is in the car with u makes a difference in how u react.

My case very similar to you...waited for 4 months liao still nothing...
