Today is her 36th bday. Her Chinese fans had a big celebratory weibo titled #孙燕姿723生日快乐#.

Birthdays in multiples of twelve are considered important years, 本命年.

Reaching ~14mil view count in a day is quite impressive.

I am not exactly her fan but I think it is appropriate to reciprocate the well intended wishes with a simple thank you rt.

Singing two ndp songs (2002, 2003) earned her bragging rights to be more Singaporean than most of us :)
There was more than 200mil view count at the end of the day n she updated a post after twelve. I don't think she is prescribing hunger marketing and may have her own reasons (anti 36w?). Just that observing cultural nuances and being true to oneself is a delicate balancing act.
Her debut in 2000, together with Jay Chou caught the last wave of traditional (Taiwanese) music industry churning out pop stars measured by album sales. The bigger fan base is in mainland china, touching the early, mid 80s to mid 90s generation.
As the fourth singer in the Beijing olympics 2008 theme song "Beijing welcomes you", (second female after local diva 那英), she has street cred. The establishment recognized that as she was the first pop act to perform in our new national stadium (Jul 5)
She possessed several qualities,
(unassuming, understated, self deprecating humor, sincere, 敬业,零绯闻, 不炒作,不欺场,正能量...)
and charisma, x-factor for a prolonged career.
I wish her well.

Hypersonic

Unfortunately no one remembered what songs she sang for NDP.

The only one I remembered is Kit Chan's Home. Best of the best!

sorry there is a typo on post #7.

"There was more than 20mil view count at the end of the day n she updated a post after twelve."

It should be 20mil instead of 200mil.

Currently it is 36mil view count.

I do think Kit's "Home" is the cozier one.

Stef's "we will get there" is quite good too, though it sounds like inspiring the troops, in the trenches, blah blah blah.
