1fast1 Supersonic July 22, 2014 Share July 22, 2014 (edited) Please explain this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_Laser_Ranging_experiment if it was all a hoax. BTW, a replicate of this experiment was featured on an episode of The Big Bang Theory, which is one of the popular shows that still gets it mostly right when it comes to science. Please read less conspirary theorist tripe and more "Bad Astronomy". Albeniz Turbocharged July 22, 2014 Share July 22, 2014 (edited) The navigation and control of the space craft to the moon require sophisticated computational powers and hardware memories. The basic XT computer PCs only came about in the 1980s and they were driven by floppy disks with memories in the range of hundred kilobytes. Heavy and precise computing were probably available but that would took mainframes to occupy the size of a football field. Let us further wind back the time from 1980s to 1969. With such "computers", the moon lander would have to be gigantic, but the moon lander looks so amazingly small for my expectation. BTW, the American flag was flying high with pride. That makes me curious - Is it very windy on the moon? I was hoping to enjoy some silence in vacuum. Edited July 22, 2014 by Albeniz

The navigational computer is actually very simple as it's based on raw basis binary computing power. You cannot compare with the current system's 4th generation programming which comes with many layers of coding with kernels, API, libraries to make programming "high-level" and easier to program. I believe they are using the code even lower than Assembly Language in the 60s. The flag is suspend by 2 poles, a vertical and a horizontal pole sewed in to keep the flag "flying" as the flag will be a rag if there is no vertical pole. Blueray Hypersonic July 2, 2017 Share July 2, 2017 Japan wants to put a man on the moon, accelerating Asian space race (CNN)Japan plans to put a man on the moon around 2030, according to a new proposal by the government's Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). It is the first time JAXA has revealed an intention to send Japanese astronauts beyond the International Space Station, and it will mostly likely be part of an international mission, the agency said. The announcement from Japan Wednesday is just the latest in a series of ambitious space exploration plans by Asian countries, with the increasing competition for space-related power and prestige in the region echoing that of the Cold War space race of the mid-20th century. http://edition.cnn.com/2017/06/29/asia/japan-moon-landing-jaxa/index.html

Blueray Hypersonic July 3, 2017 Share July 3, 2017 actually the rest of the countries now go to the Moon also no point, based on old colonisation practice, the first one who plants the flag in the soil lays claim to the place. so, in theory, Moon belongs to USA.
Kangadrool Supersonic July 3, 2017 Share July 3, 2017 (edited) China invented mooncakes first, so it will be claiming it as the nine dash lines.... in due course. Edited July 3, 2017 by Kangadrool

GLZT 6th Gear July 4, 2017 Share July 4, 2017 actually the rest of the countries now go to the Moon also no point, based on old colonisation practice, the first one who plants the flag in the soil lays claim to the place. so, in theory, Moon belongs to USA. The purpose is not claiming the moon as their own. Moreover, the moon is big enough to be split into different zones.
Volvobrick Supersonic July 4, 2017 Share July 4, 2017 So now the Japanese, Chinese and Indians are going to fake moon landings and siphon away billions of dollars to fun their secret military projects..... just like Uncle Sam!

Still2016 Twincharged July 4, 2017 Share July 4, 2017 I believe the aim of these countries who have a credible space program, realised the limited resources we have here on earth. So basically laying claims (future) resources on the moon. If you never land on the moon, then how to lay claim. Remember Sang Lina Utama or was it Merlion who made claim.
Watwheels Supersonic July 4, 2017 Share July 4, 2017 Can understand China and India to claim the vast pieces of land on the moon for their enormous population. But for the Japanese their ever declining birthrate they go there do what? Sell sex dolls to the Chinese and Indians? "Konichiwa, our new contraception, sex doll." Atonchia Supersonic July 4, 2017 Share July 4, 2017 China invented mooncakes first, so it will be claiming it as the nine dash lines.... in due course. 后羿, husband of Chang Er shot the Suns. Then Chang Er ate the elixir and reached the moon, found Wu Gang there. It meant China have laid hands on the moon & sun many millennia ago ↡ Advertisement
