MAS Crashes in Ukraine - MH17

That's probably a safe assumption, but I would feel better with a public statement from SIA, especially in light of the fact that an SQ flight was right on the heels of the MAS flight as it was being shot down.

The prudent course of action would've been to completely avoid this troubled airspace for the time being, but until an incident like this happens, the bean counters will win the argument based on dollars and cents. Of course, it would be a foolhardly carrier that dares to continue through this region no matter what they think a "safe" altitude is. But it's still good for our flag carrier to give an unequivocal assurance that they are not going to put anyone's lives at risk in this airspace.

Yup agree. SIA should spin some PR to assure its customers.

Airline stocks have been going south today.

Actually depends. Some of the militants could be ex Ukraine military or ex Soviet trained.

They may actually have the ability to operate such equipments

True though, since many of the rebel are usually from trained by their official armed forces.

Welp. Looks like Putin gonna have some 'splaining to do and some angry Europeans to pacify.

I wonder how this is going to affect the Ukraine conflict.
