One lucky guy who escaped both MH370 and MH17

Bugger says he is still taking MAS and isn't worried.

Sometimes when the Universe is actually kind enough to give us a warning, we should heed it.

And now like becoming ally again... because the US left a Shi'ite leaning govt in Iraq, which is supported by Iran. And now with the chaos in Iraq caused by the ISIS militants, the Iranians are starting to look like the good guys who will save the country from the militants [laugh]

That's why in politics there are no permanent enemies...

Talking about ERP in the sky ... yes, airlines do pay so-called "overflight" charges to the respective countries whose airspace are traversed in the flight plans.

thats what Politic is all about, today enemies tomorrow best of kakis! Iran has always been the bogeyman of the west since the days of Persian empires till now. US is will come out of this a hero again and they will benefit the most. Iran's sweet crude will be the prize after all the carnage is over!

Well, if during the start of the civil war, the conflict was deem too insignificant to trigger closure of airspace, then surely in the last week when there were 2 Ukraine flights shot down by the rebels, should have woken everyone up to avoid the place.

L140 KOVIL FASAD.

FM FL260 UP TO FL320.

MH17 was flying the L980 airway which was open at above 32000ft.

Seems the Ukranians had catered for only safety from low level missiles - those shoulder launched type.

After the downing the Ukranians declared the airway totally off limits.

Anyway, I think many airlines had the herd mentality - all are using the airway, so it is safe. & it saved dollars. I also read, pilots now fear speaking up or they might get the axe.

Singapore Airlines apologises for Facebook post after it draws flak, sows confusion

“SIA, please explain why SQ351 (was) 25km away from MH17? You said you are not using Ukraine airspace?!” wrote Irene Lim-Tan. “I think a lot of us want your explanations.” Her comment came after data from FlightRadar24.com revealed that the Singapore Airlines flight alongside an Air India plane was positioned nearby MH17 in a screen grab on Twitter on Thursday night.

The Guardian: reports from Torez that the victims' bodies are being brought to three railway cars, apparently with refrigerator capability, which are standing at the train station in the town of Torez, several miles from the crash site.

The Guardian witnessed the arrival of an OSCE delegation at about midday local time to inspect the cars accompanied by a convoy of heavily armed and nervous rebel gunmen.

As they opened the metal door to one of the cars to inspect the interior, a stench of death wafted out, and black body bags were visible inside.

Alexander Hug, deputy chief of the special monitoring mission, said: “The special monitoring mission in its third day dealing with the incident has now monitored the location where bodies are being refrigerated in three wagons. We have not been able to count them as that would be too difficult in this situation.”

Michael Bociurkiw, the spokesperson for the mission, added: “Going inside the wagons is impossible without special equipment. The stench is very very bad.”

Donetsk rebel leader Alexander Borodai said the bodies recovered from the crash site would remain in refrigerated train cars in the rebel-held town of Torez, 15 kilometres from the crash site, until the arrival of an international aviation delegation.

“The bodies will go nowhere until experts arrive,” Borodai said, speaking in the rebel-held city of Donetsk.

He also said the plane’s black boxes have been recovered and will be handed over to the International Civil Aviation Organization.

Borodai said he was expecting a team of 12 Malaysian experts and that he was disappointed at how long they had taken to arrive. He insisted that rebels had not interfered with the crash investigation, despite reports to the contrary by international monitors and journalists at the crash site.

Taking its cue from it's parents.......heartless and cold! Themsick motto 'Profit before anything else'!

I don't think it's intentional or reflective of the company position lah... more like trying to close the gate after the horse has left the stable, so to speak.

The problem with marketing thru social media like facebook is that more often than not, the person at the keyboard putting out the info and updates is usually a junior staffer, young and inexperienced - and therefore, economical to employ - worse, some companies even out-source this function.

Nowadays using social media, info is put out, instantly available - unlike in the past, where routine vetting by higher-ups was the norm. Safer approach, but much slower than social media. 'Foot-in-mouth' occurrences will be much more common with social media use.
