Neutrino Supercharged November 23, 2014 Share November 23, 2014 I have ever driven in Oman 2 to 3 years, LHD, I drove in Oman for two years back in 1976. Driving Mazda 929 when based in Muscat. No roads out of Oman then so furthest I drove was up to Nizwa and Sohar. Any further than that and I used the company plane a Piper Navaho. We crashed in that taking off from Bukha in the Musandam and the plane was a write off so we bought a DH Twin Otter. Great that was but another story. When based in Salalah i drove a very old Land Rover but even then very reliable. I was doing a Geolgical survey on an area of 1000 sq km east of Mirbat. No sat nav, no maps, no roads just a compass for fixing position. It was just after the terrorist campaign in Dhofar was ending and we used to hear a lot of gunfire at night and the SAF had to accompany us when we were sampling in some areas. In fact 6 ex pats were murdered by the rebels while snorkelling off Taqah beach, an area we had surveyed the day before. ↡ Advertisement
