Cyclist killed after getting run over by a truck near National Library
Melissa Lin | The Straits Times | Monday, Jul 21, 2014
SINGAPORE - A cyclist, believed to be a Malay man in his 60s on his way to break fast, was killed when he was run over by a truck at the junction of Middle Road and Victoria Street, near the National Library.
At the scene, a small crowd had gathered and a police cordon surrounded the mangled wreck of the bicycle.
Eyewitness Eugene Teh, a 22-year-old undergraduate, said the accident happened around 7.20pm. The cyclist attempted to cross the road a few seconds before the green man came on, he said. The truck, which was turning left, hit him.
"There was a loud bang and he went under the wheel. There were track marks on his body but there was no blood," he said. "It was quite crowded then. Everyone was very shocked."
Mr Haddy Shuhry, 32, a technician at the National Design Centre at Middle Road - right next to the junction where the accident occurred - said his colleagues had seen the cyclist pass by the centre regularly.
The man was likely to be heading to the mosque at Arab Street to break fast when the accident happened, Mr Shuhry said.
The truck driver, believed to be a Chinese national, was in shock. He said in Mandarin: "My feelings are in a mess now."

Neutral Newbie

Hi forumers

I am unable to create a new post so, I am adding onto this thread to appeal for witness to an accident my father in law's swift and a funeral parlour van. Here are the details of the accident.

Date: Wednesday 30th July 2014

Time: 735-930 am

Location: intersection AMK ave 1 & Li Hwan dr

Vehicle: Suzuki swift & mercedes Vito

The driver allegedly beat the red light when my FIL was making a turn into Tai hwan Dr. Initially he apologized but later on he said he was late and rushed off from the scene.

If any car forumer happens to have a video or were in the vicinity during that time of the accident please contact me or pm me. If you have the in car cam video even better.

Your help is very much appreciated.

Thank you

Michael wee
