i got a burning question about this.

recently got a new Tab 3 tablet, and a new case that has a magnetic tab.

The problem is the tablet keep going to standby erratically, no screen touch sensitivity, and just hang for whole day. Was so pissed with it, i thought i got a lemon tablet.

Decided to go to Samsung Service Centre. They were kind enough to change the entire screen.

Collect it back and the problem is the same. So mad, went back to service centre again.

The counter service staff took a look at my tablet and my case. Asked me to try using the tablet without the case. He explained my case has magnets that may affect the device. Ok, i ever read online about this magnetic problem, where some ppl complained about the magnetic cases. Decided to go with his advice.

Sure enough, the tablet works like a charm now, without the stupid case.

Anyone has this problem as well?

oh I am surprised......seems like engineering for ipad in this aspect is better. my ipad2 works very well with the magnetic screen cover. then again it seems the ipad2 cover doesn't work well on ipad3.

the case is made for tab 3 tablets. i think Tab 3 has auto on/off function,

but i'm actually surprised that the magnets really do have effect on tablets

either Samsung made the tablet too weak to repel the magnetic forces or the magnets in the case is too strong

is a shame actually.

with the magnetic cover, it intelligently goes on standby when I flip the cover close and the battery life lasts longer.

Aiya, Just cut a tiny slot to try to remove magnet, after that sew Velcro over the slot, wah- lah! Can re-use the case. You sell to another person means you are a dick like the case maker.

I suggest that you take pictures and feedback to the case maker, leave some angry words, ask how the mother is doing and mention that their casing suck.

I'm by no means an expert, but it seems a little like bashing a car for being lousy, when a certain grade of fuel causes knocking.

Why is the blame primarily with the tablet and not the case? The tablet is working fine if not for the case, isn't it?

I am using a Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3" - a phablet.

Initially had a magnetic case. Had a few glitches, e.g. some issues with the Swype function on the keyboard, and the phone going to standby screen during use. Also, the Compass was worthless with the cover on.

Finally got fed up and went to a plain backing. Just relying on the screen protector to protect the display.

Strong magnet will have an effect on any sensors inside the phone.

Accelerometer or such sensors depending on earth magnetic field will be effected.

Best thing is not to use any holder with magnetic catch.

Smart phones has many such sensors.
