Shall mcf also have military ranking in ( ) beside the existing ranking like NOSed ? :D

Being a Scholar should show that they study smart at the least. A decade or more in the Military illustrates their proven track of conformity/compliance.

Don't forget. There is also Mr. Heng Chee How, current Minister of State in PMO. He was also former Commander of Geylang Police Station.

Also must remember the beings at mount Vernon...

i no navy guy.....whats a Rear-Admiral? Someone who likes an Admiral's rear ijit?

It goes like this:

Commodore (CDRE) - one star (BG) equivalent. Now outmoded in Singapore (because the title not 'shiok'), and they use RADM (1 star) instead.

Rear Admiral (RADM) - two star (MG) equivalent. Must be distinguished from RADM (1 star), because this is of course more tok kong.

Vice Admiral (VADM) - three star (LG) equivalent. Got no one achieve 3-star in RSN as far as I can recall (only LG in Army).

Other ranks are theoretical, no one achieved in SG yet, but you can go higher:

Admiral (ADM) (equivalent to 4-star General or GEN).

Admiral of the Fleet (equivalent to 5-star Field Marshall).

Our non-flag Navy ranks are all screwed up compared to other countries because of the stupid desire of the SG gahmen to standardise everything between the three forces. So Captain is actually a very high Naval rank in other countries (roughly equivalent to COL) but here, it's just a louya rank below MAJ even. The funny thing is: if they thought standardisation is the right way to go, why not do it for the flag ranks also? Afraid they lose face in front of senior leaders from other countries, issit? But don't forget the lower ranks also participate in joint Naval exercises hor. When our CPT meets a real Captain from another Naval force, don't know where he's gonna hide his face. :D

BTW, there's an old joke about RADM and VADM.

Q: What's a Rear Admiral's Vice?

A: A Vice Admiral's Rear! [laugh]

Your comment is quite close to that joke. :D

Hee, hee, hee ......

Those heli later will be replaced by F35SG .... [sly]

ya. maybe we just follow the Japanese navy. They cannot built aircraft carrier, built something like the DDH 181 and call it a helicopter destroyer. The Japanese is going to built another bigger one which is almost as big as the Nimitz class carrier and still call it a helicopter destroyer. [laugh]

There is a picture of the DDH-181 side by side with a Nimitz class carrier and you can imagine how big the new destroyer going to be.

no need to go so high up. if you see our neighbor's army during joint exercises, many of their soldier in their 30s only hold the rank of LCP. our NSF can go as high as 2SGT.

eugenics my friend... the idea that only smart people shld hang out n breed together to get even smarter offsprings, hence how the elitist label came about n the rich poor gap widening all the time.

To eradicate this problem, you will have to close down EXCLUSIVE clans, clubs, etc ... SDU / Alumni / etc ...

Then again, the world is not fair ... [;)]

Thanks for the in-depth info. Learnt many things today! The only SAF General i respect is Winston Choo. He was the Chief when i was serving ns and most orobably because he was an officer from 1 SIR. He was involved in small scale skirmishes during the konfontasi and most probably the oni General of SAF who had lead a platoon in a real situation. I remembered my ns mates who was given the task of creating a 1 SIR historical room during our ns days. Winston Choo's picture of him leading his men in Borneo was the main attraction. My friend Ismail hot a warm handshake from the Army Chief for his effort. He was damn proud sia!

not really. the moderator needs to control time, control the direction of the conversation, and have the wit to shield the speaker from any potential embarrassment. old man is very very demanding. if you show yourself to be not sharp enough in front of him, that's the end of your career. whoever nominated him for moderator would also kena.

But non are likes SAF types of super ranking [dizzy] , anyone from SPF Commissional level [;)]

Old man [sly] believes and concern those chaos in Thailand might happen here, son is BG to DPM to PM, all majority ministers are from SAF super scale ranking -_-

did some simple CSI work...

indeed, the current political office holders who came from SPF mostly left as Superintendents.

most prominent are the 2 Heng's, Heng Swee Keat and Heng Chee How. interestingly, they share the same surname, were both born in 1961, had the same scholarship (SPFOS), and their wives are both Deputy Secretaries in ministries.

Heng Swee Keat left as a SUPT in the mid-1990s to become MOE's Director of Higher Education (I believe this posting has something to do with his eventual appointment as Education Minister)

Heng Chee How also left as a SUPT in the mid-1990s to join NTUC. he lost his first election in 1997 to Low Thia Khiang.

United States Navy Promotes Michelle Howard to 4-Star Admiral

This is a true 4 star general. Her combat experience is more than all our generals combined together

LOL, and the total still doesnt add up to much since SAF has never gone to any war in its entire history!! (except the few months of Confrontation with Indonesia) [laugh]

Think he most probably shot down a few hundreds at least. [thumbsup]

All in simulation. [laugh]

Nonetheless, these simulations are exactly like the real stuff. Except no lives lost.

Does the simulator subject the pilots to the same G forces as in real air combat / dogfights? [sweatdrop]

You want paper generals, scholars are the best choice. [;)]

Out of so many pap politicians who came from SAF, none are really impressive at serving the people, cannot be,right?? [sweatdrop] [sweatdrop]

If this is the case, how come they still keep using these ex-SAF men?? How come?

btw, apparently lss was also a saf scholar but served in IT areas?
