ismailmiller 1st Gear December 29, 2020 Share December 29, 2020 Any suggestion for 2006-2012 IS250 Brake Pad? Mine is ceramic, the brake dust damn hard to maintain as my rims gets ruined every 3 days. Better to get stock or any good ones to recommend with similar performance as stock? ↡ Advertisement

Ceramic pads give the least dust. I am on them. Rims stay clean after weeks. Downside is less jiak. If your rims get dirty after a few days, I doubt you have ceramic pads. Maybe your WS bluff you. Try Akebono ceramic pads next time. Edited December 30, 2020 by Volvobrick

Hamburger Hypersonic December 30, 2020 Share December 30, 2020 It's a blessing to wash the rims that kind of reminds me I am priveliged to have wheels to take care of. Anyway still on stock brake but gonna change to that purple brake pad NIBK which I often used in the past. Minimum brake dust too.

The dust might be more from your rotor instead of the pad. If the dust is brownish tint and your pad wear not much most likely iron from your rotors.

I am using dixcel type m pads. It is alot more cleaner and no less jiak (my subjective feeling) than the stock ap racing pads they replaced. It is so clean i basically dont need to wash my rims at all now.

It was super dusty. Then i did some research and decided to change pads to dixcel type m. Around $400 for 1 set for front. As a comparison, the dust simply disappeared and the braking performance in my butt feel was actually better and more jiak. I said it is no less jiak just to be less exegerate. Some people would say the rotors could be wearing out faster and rotors are more expensive than pads. My rotors are 3 years old and half used by the dixcel m pads. Cannot conclude this at this point.
Jamesc Hypersonic December 30, 2020 Share December 30, 2020 I scrapped cars 10 years always on original brake pads. People change too often. PIE a bit of down hill slope brake. A bit of a bend brake. Accelerate to behind a lorry and then brake. One taxi driver I saw kept accelerating and then brake. If I was the passenger I would be throwing up. Some drivers drive on highway with the brake light permanently on. That means they are gently resting their foot on the brake! No wonder keep changing pads. I am very stupid. If I was smart instead of posting this I should be buying shares in brake pad companies. Think how much money I could be making instead of wasting time in MCF.

Yeobh 4th Gear March 4, 2021 Share March 4, 2021 (edited) Besides checking the pad thickness, it is best to check the rotor disc thickness. Wear down thin rotor disc will generate high vibrations when the brake is applied. Edited March 4, 2021 by Yeobh ↡ Advertisement
