F-35 catches fire!

The fire began in the back of an Air Force F-35 during takeoff . . . The pilot was able to safely shut down the engine and get out of the plane, and no injuries were reported.

The Air Force has not released the extent of damages the aircraft sustained in the fire, but Cronin said the fire was significant.

on fire. F35 is just a bad design, too many people wanted this plane to do diiferent things

 

and so it doesn them all badly.

These are all part of the problems that happen with today's complex products that are "engineered by committee". At least in the USA, the news is transparent.

 

I'm sure the advanced fighter aircraft programmes in russia and china are also fraught with problems and possibly fatalities - just that in these countries, the bad news is censored.

 

In the past, evidence has shown that many of the successful and timeless aircraft designs originated from just one or two visionary engineers. Never by committee.

F-35s design have to cater for the Navy (carrier landings) and Marines (VTOL) and it is taking up far too many roles.

 

Problem is having different aircrafts, it'll mean having a logistical nightmare when it comes to the spareparts.

When multi-role equipment add more roles to their already "multi" names, it just becomes worse at any one thing.

F-35 project is 1 of the biggest fiasco in recent US military history. Obama personally had to bring Lockheeds management to task in congress hearings.... overbudget.. delays... its considered by some to be even a national scandal....

 

Worst of all.. after Obama's stern warning.. the lockheeds management go ahead and pay themselves fat bonuses while laying off many of the essential project personnel...

 

It should be noted tat if this project foundered.. the USAF will for the 1st time in 60years force to operate 2nd-tier fighters against other contemporary air forces...

Why so harsh? He speaks the truth in a way.

 

This plane was conceived by the late 90s and suppose to be on air by 2009 and suppose to cost half of the F-22.

Now it's 2014 and they only managed to fulfill 60% of their promised capablities and it cost more than the F-22.

 

The project overshort by 6 years and the amount spend is 1 Trillion dollars in total, the most expensive military project in US history.
