Tigerwoods Turbocharged June 26, 2014 Share June 26, 2014 We go JB for kopi or makan and jio uncle @fongmy for humsup movie after that. I dowan... wait @Fongmy morest me how ? Part of the reason is the more expensive ERP to go Marina/Suntec area compared to Orchard. Even the parking at Marina Square on a sat evening compared to places like ION/Wisma/Paragon is a lot more expensive. Nowadays if I go town to shop, mainly is Orchard or Vivo. No point to go Marina Square or Suntec unless specifically looking for something there which is not available in Orchard/Vivo. Who is the Owner of Suntec City ? does it covers Marina Square ? ↡ Advertisement

Hydrocarbon Turbocharged June 26, 2014 Share June 26, 2014 With more and more shopping mall at neighbor hood area, why need to go town doing mall?. I can remember when a the last time I step into marina square or orchard area.. I'm trying to avoid Orchard area if possible. Too crowded and not to say anything much special I can't get elsewhere (referring to things that I need / want instead of LV Gucci etc).. the most basic things in japan are cheaper than here. 1) house 2) food 3) internet+phone 4) car Not too sure about 1 and 3, but food there, dollar value compared to Singapore, Singapore you can get a simple meal from coffee shop at $3 or so, while there, the cheapest I found is a 500yen bowl of ramen. Based on current exchange rates, it's about $6.25. So here is still cheaper. But I think the 500yen ramen bowl tastes better than most ramen shops in Singapore which are selling it at about twice the price. So.. =X Car there cheaper, but parking there way more expensive. Outskirts of Tokyo, most lots are 200 - 400 yen per half hour, $2.50 - $5. Nearer to town, it goes up to 400 - 800 yen per half hour.. Maybe if stay in other more rural places, not so bad.

Hydrocarbon Turbocharged June 27, 2014 Share June 27, 2014 japanese salary is higher right?? thus their 500yens could be cheap to them? If calculate in yen alone, should be, but last two - three years, Japanese yen from 60 : 1 Singapore dollar, dropped to 80 : 1. Now the rates, quite in our favour. True. But the difference in car price itself gives you free parking for the next 10 years. Yep, about there. Golf 1.4 TSI was selling at about 32-35K SGD. If not living in Tokyo, but in other prefectures / smaller towns, there's free parking at some places. Even if paid, the parking fee also lower. But not sure if salary is lower too, so.. Haha we pay $6.25 here, and $6.25 there, portion sizes there still bigger Service there better. So, still worth it. Plus, get served by Japanese XMMs at times.. So... More than worth it! Kangadrool Supersonic June 27, 2014 Share June 27, 2014 (edited) Parking in outskirts Tokyo are mostly free in supermarkets, family marts, 7-11...... Not crowded. Prices at family mart and 7-11 are not exhorbitantly markupped there unlike here. Parking at MRT stations is 500 Yen full day. Machine takes cold hard cash and can refund balance in change too. Not crowded, but spacious lot. In all outskirts Tokyo carparks, there will be available lots whenever you drive in, no need to circle and wait, even in Disneyland on weekends. Japan's toll (aka ERP) IU unit is slimmer than ours and can talk instead of just buzzing.... Not like some 7-11 at town MRTs. One small bottle of water, $2 or $2.50. Disney parking very ... Large.. The tram is good too.. But best is stay Miracosta! Haha.. Don't need care parking or car or whatnot. And got 15 minutes early entry..
