To sensational headlines and print scantly dressed women on front page to improve sales is very different from fabricating stories for viewership.

Articles in new nations are satires and on the header of their site, they already tell you that only 50% is real. I enjoy reading that site for laugh actually. They are just like Noose on Ch5.

After reading this article, I can conclude that this teacher is a pure jerk. After married her, later on treat her cold, eventually divorce and go for another lady. Ethically already a bad example and hopefully this man is suspended from teacher.

From what we see in the TV and newspaper about those sexual crime, all caught offender have been punished. The way it goes that the moral of these educators are eroding day by day. They are from primary to university academics professionals. The fundamental question is: what happen to the system of producing good teachers, lecturers which is supposed the only yardstick who our younger generation refer to morally and academically. Gone are the days where parents fully support the role played by these professional in teaching our children, which I hope they are not yet.... Let someone with the right position and responsibility take a deeper look at and overhaul the ways the education ministry select and prepare the right candidates for the most honourable job (second to mum) in the world to equip the future generation with right knowledge, moral and attitude of life....

 

The right, exemplary deterrent punishment should be applied otherwise the similar offend would cease to stop....

The problem with the system is that teachers are often graded based on the non-teaching contributions they made to the school/community etc... it's no wonder that many of them are burnt out. Faced with demanding and overprotective parents, it's no secret that many good teachers are leaving the service and joining the private sector. You may argue that teaching is a calling, but at the end of the day, teachers are still human. The only way that MOE knows how to recruit new teachers is to increase the pay, which is not that high either. It's no wonder that nowadays they have to extend their recruitment drive to PRC/Taiwan.

Frankly there were such frequent incidents and so many pairs of teacher and underage xmm that we all confused liao! Not a good sign!!

 

The news article mentioned 5 incidents just last year alone.

 

This latest case in the papers is truly more despicable, considering the "teacher" somehow can get awarded scholarship and worse, heads the school's character and citizenship dept.

 

The school's management or somebody in the MOE really "eyes got stamp" - cannot see through. I'm truly amazed that not only this kind of person can pass the teaching job interview, but also deemed good enough to be given a scholarship and position in the school (this last one truly ironic!)

 

Worse of all, this guy will make life difficult for the genuine, honest, dedicated teachers out there. For sure, there will be a whole slew of procedures and red tape coming up to address this kind of incidents... usual knee-jerk response in singapore for covering the higher-ups' mistakes.

From my personal viewpoint, MOE has addressed all these to the Education officers... and that is why there is now a teacher's ethos which every teacher must adhere to. Frankly speaking... there's a limit to how much they can do. The accused is highly likely to be on the fast track as he is a HOD at such a young age. Probably designated to be a P by 35. It's such an irony that he is in charge of CCE department.

 

Even if his supervisor/P have spotted some character flaws in him... they probably won't do anything about it unless there's evidence that he has committed an offence. Afterall, he is a scholar and it is quite a serious thing to terminate his service. He would have to pay back every single cent plus interest. no one will want to be the a**hole to do that.
