Anyone can comment why this car is so heavy relative to others?

Is it because of outdated chassis technology or because it has a lot more equipment?

wheelbase 2,800 mm: IS250 is 1,555 kg

wheelbase 2,810 mm: bmw 320i is 1,525 kg

wheelbase 2,840 mm: C250 is 1,595 kg

wheelbase 2,850 mm: Q50 is 1,700 kg

wheelbase 2,874 mm: E250 is 1,680 kg

difference probably in chassis and suspension setup.

I guess most likely due to the material use for the chassi and the weight of the engine.

If you look at C250 and E250, they are on the heavier side when compared to IS250 and 320i

Overall dimensions play a part too.

BMW 320i: (4633 x 1811 x 1429) mm

IS250: (4665 x 1810 x 1430) mm

C250: (4686 x 1810 x 1442) mm

Q50: (4790 x 1820 x 1455) mm

E250: (4879 x 1854 x 1474) mm

True. The dimensions play a part and the E class is the closest. Anyone know the weight for upcoming E class?

I think IS250/BMW320i/C250/Q50 all belong the compact executive sedan category, just about the same size everywhere. Whereby E-class is one notch up, supposed to be compared with 5series, A6 and Lexus GS250/350. So the Q50 is really heavy for a compact executive sedan.. when it's heavier than even the E250.

Most of the weight difference should be from chassis and engine setup.

all this talk of detailed specifications is reminding me of when i was under 10 yrs old and we used to play "trump card" games based on the specs of airplanes... or high speed trains... or fast cars...

some things never change! hahaha!! :)

"The Q50 is based on a widely enhanced version of Nissan’s ‘FM’ platform (same as in the Nissan 370z). It’s built predominantly out of high-strength steel, with aluminium parts adding lightness. It permits a longways engine, front-mounted transmission and rear-wheel drive."

Maybe that's why Q50 is heavier than some of the cars with newer, predominantly aluminium chassis?

anyone going to the motorshow next week?

Is it free? Or $6?

If need to pay, might as well go Leng Kee. There is a good chance of buffet spread too.

$6 to keep out riff raff and view/test all the cars you want side by side is a decent tradeoff... else will be like comex where the crowd is literally ass to ass. :p

$6 won't cover the petrol needed to go from showroom to showroom for 15 different ADs.  [laugh]

What's this management car stunt that Wearnes has been pulling ?  It's very annoying and to the extent I think it's a form of bait and switch.

They would advertise low price with small print which you'd normally not notice.  When you showed up, you'll then be told the pricing is from price and the low price advertised are for management car.

What are these management cars and where the hell they have so many so-called managers ?

For used management units only.
