I am not a watch person. I like watches in the way I like guys. Just not that much. I enjoy looking at them (those watches). Little pieces of engineering made by I suppose, little people. I wonder what those little people look like. I wonder...

Today I was at Far East Plaza. I was looking for a watch. But the real reason was the chirashi don on the 4th floor is good and cheap. Since I am writing about watch hunting, I should not dwell on the chirashi don. Ok, just one thing, the thick sliced sashimis are delicious. I digressed...

There are quite a few watch traders in FE Plaza. They all look about the same. Somehow, I never like to step into one. It has always been like this. I don't really want to buy anything. I just want to look see but the salesperson always make me feel like I must buy a Rolex or two. That's why I just stare through the window. Windows don't ask questions. Windows don't eyeball you up and down. Windows are transparent. You can always see the salesman coming & run...

Then I came across this shop, Goldman Luxury. I remember this shop from here. Maybe MCF people are nicer. I decided to try my luck. I browsed through the shop un-molested. There were some interesting watches. Watches I have never seen before, some strange, others even stranger. Price tags the strangest, maybe you really need to be a connoisseur. I am more of a beer guy. And then, there it was. I found what I came looking for. Here is where it gets tricky. How do I request to see the watch without being compelled to buy it? Is it too much of a hassle to open the cabinet? Will the salesman think I am trolling him? Should I order the regular or special Chirashi don? I jumped...

15 minutes later, I was sitting comfortably at the counter chatting with the salesman who happens to be the boss of the shop. I can now tell the Sea Dwellers from the Submariners. Explorers to the Yatch Masters. I asked, he answered. Simple. I zero'ed down to 2 particular models with his help. I got my watch's bracelet adjusted by him. Everything was cool and dandy. I walked...

No guilt, no pressure and no watch. Splendid. All thanks to Wee Lee for entertaining me. I will check around the prices a bit, fly off to Hokkaido for some chirashi don and will drop by again when I stop procastinating decisively.

GML has a few around $5k or below watches. Also depends what kind of watch you looking for. "Normal", diver, chrono, etc. In particular there is an Aquaracer (latest model) which is quite nice, a elegant simple zenith and a big chopard chrono. There is also a breitling navitimer there under $5k.

It was so good I wouldn't share.

I think there is a thread about it somewhere in MCF.

Anyway, I got this recently. Just don't ask me about it....

Knowing you in person and knowing at least one watch you wear, I can say your post is almost total BS. But entertaining, I'll give you that. :D
