Road Safety is a shared responsibility.

As long as anyone is on the same property it should be governed by the same set of laws.

Road traffic act should encompass all traffic users be it driver, motorcyclist, cyclist or pedestrian.

Pedestrians, cyclists who use earphones for iPod music etc while crossing the roads are just as guilty!! This may sound too "regimental" in restricting the use of these devices which can endanger the persons, but safety should be the prime consideration.

Remember the case where the ger literally jump into the path of moving vehicle. This is where car cam proves that the ger was at fault.

And best part is, she has a bah bodoh reaction which really frightened me bcos she continued to sashay across despite that rd was piled w fast moving vehicles n that was the last place on Singapore where one wld expect a jaywalker.

Why not you try drive pass two buses, which stop in the bus bay, at normal legal speed say 70kmh and see if you can stop in time for a 'suicidal' kid/adult who dashes into your path from the gap between the two buses at the last moment as your car passes the same gap??? That's why you don't drive past stopped busses at 70 km/h,

 

That's also why you slow down a bit when there is no fence dividing the road and houses / bus stops in both sides

 

In many many countries there are laws that you must slow down for a stopped bus

 

That's also why, generally speaking a try to give a bus bay a slightly wider berth

this discussion is not about taking side but about the sensible thing/reaction to be taken in such a scenario.

 

if this involved a kid, one of the sensible/logical/responsible parent should also do is to educate the child. even that is an on going process and not only after an accident has happened.

u want to try that kind of small road, u driving at 20 km /h, keep proper look out, then while your car is 1 meter away behind me, i suddenly cross the road, see if u are able to stop on time,
