How many seat belt buckle your M5 has on the 2nd row seat? Just realized that mine has 2 for the 2 seats. M5 does have the seat belt for the centre rear seat but come with no buckle? Where are the 'B' and 'D' buckle?

dear owners,

my experience so far after 3 weeks with my mazda 5.

Pros :

1. drive is pretty smooth .

2. sliding doors giving you less headache in constrain space , though I still choose to park in those lots which are more spacious ., due to fact that I cant ignore the fact that other car owner just open their doors by swinging out in full force.

3. the sunroof gives extra brightness (within the car) .

4. the car lock , would not be locked even if your boot is not fully closed .

maybe theres more for me to find out.

anyway cons :

1. during start up , the engine noise is as loud as a 5 year old lorry (does anyone experience that ?) its worse than my previous GLX.

since my car isn't 1 month old yet , I reckon that's normal isn't it?

2.it doesn't have autolock feature .. pity ..

3.the space for the 3rd row is slightly smaller as compared to wish , good enough for up to 12 year old.

4.I could hear the gear change kinda loud from 1-3, im not a heavy footed tough .

5.fuel consumption : 11.5L/100KM , not quite up to my initial expectation ... 70% urban/ 30% highway.

Still figuring... welcome feedbacks..

Hi tytyty,

welcome to the M5 club.

I recently found out that there is SG Mazda Group on FB.

You may like to join the group.

The auto lock is really something I missed also.

My kids nowaday will just keep complaining: Daddy, you forget to lock the door again... :(

As for start up engine noise, i find it quite ok as it's only for a short time. GLX is real quiet on standby mode & start up, but roar on cruising. M5 is kind of opposite.

I have been driving M5 for almost 10 years and now changed to Nissan due to budget constraints.

1. The noise for start up is normal and not really loud. Not sure why yours so loud.

2. I have forgotten what is autolock since driving M5. Now my nissan also no autolock.

3. Space for 3rd row is not as spacious as Wish but good enough for three adult ladies without complain.

4. Gear change i think is very normal.

5. Fuel consumption is good considering this is a 2000 cc car.

Overall I still miss the M5 as is very good for shopping and the pickup is very fast.

true.. GLX is really quiet when starting...

anyhow , im suspecting that my M5 engine could have gone haywire somewhere , as I've checked with the rest who bought recently , theirs is not as noisy... I'm sending in for 1K servicing..have reported to their CSR to make a remark for checking.

btw, how you guys find about the istop feature , is it useful on saving fuel ?

I think it was quite funny to cut the engine upon halt , and restart everytime we move off.. isn't it going to do more harm to our engine??

I thought the fuel consumption could be at least close to what they have claimed...

meanwhile , I will just need to run more mileage to get a more accurate calculation ..

Checked, it's 60L, with your mileage of 530km =>8.83km/L & 600km => 10km/L... that's a bit low, right?

regarding the size of Mazda 5 petrol tank & low fuel warning light indicator,

got mine in april 2015, the skyactive version,

in the manual it states our fuel tank is 60L

however, each time the fuel warning light comes on with 1 bar petrol left, I can only pump about 46 litres to reach full tank.

if i drive until the final bar of fuel disappears, and no more bars remain, I can only pump 48.8 litres to reach full tank.

infering from this, we actually have 10 litres of petrol left even when the final bar of petrol disappears.

however, Trans Eurokars does not want to confirm this, and is unwilling to ask Mazda Japan for further information.

does anyone know these facts about our Mazda 5 fuel tank? Thanks !

bro keep posted on engine noise issue. i suspect it could b valve clearance issue / tappet noise. as it requires some time for engine oil to travel n lubricate adequately for a while, engine will b slightly noisier until about a minute +/-. my 7+ yo ride also behaves that way.

3 adult ladies! That is really a challenge!

3 Adults on the 2nd row, I can understand

3 kids on the 3rd row, I can try hard to understand

2 adults on the 3rd row, can try to understand BUT

3 ladies on the 3rd row! That is a feat!

I drive a Wish and the max I took was 3 kids or 2 adults on the back and it was already quite a squeeze.

Mine nearing 5000km. Fuel consumption quite poor. On Shell 98, only get about 8.8 km/l.

Quite disappointing. But the car drives well.

my M5 is almost 8000km, using SPC 95, slightly heavy footed, getting 9.5km/L

probably can get 10km/L if i don't idle so much waiting for people

I'm on the 2000km, on the same fuel as you. I'm getting ard 10km/l for almost 95% city drive, commonly 2 adults and 1 kid on weekend and sometimes almost full load on weekend.

The load and driving style does affect on fc as well.

Personally, I think most of us who bought on mini MPV because we really need to move more than 5 with this car, so, fc would not really be a primary concern, as compared if you're driving a sedan. On the same range of cars available (Wish, ISIS, Carens), I would think Wish & ISIS will be the best in FC. But, cabin noise & comfort are the trade-off.

However, if you consider the cabin noise isolation of M5 vs say Toyota Wish, it definitely weight more on fc on M5.

With the smooth drive, comfort of the car & etc, though disappointed with what Mazda has stated in their spec, I'm still quite happy with M5. Maybe because I was driving a very basic sedan car before this.

i guess to know how much fuel we have left in the tank after our indicator goes totally zero-bar is to estimate how much we can pump to full after that.

the most i've tried is 48.8L pumping to auto-stop.

theoretically if you can pump 56L to auto-stop, your tank wasn't totally empty, still has 2-3L left.

anyone ever pumped 50L to auto-stop before?

i have pumped 50L before. but that is only once. left about 30km before empty tank and no bar.

3 male adults have cramped into 3rd row before. possible but not comfortable.

the seat buckle on centre 2nd row can be found on left and right of the centre seat.

it is noticed that the fuel consumption improved after the 5K mileage

i did not notice a loud engine start up when i first got it. Probably the car need to a check up.

do anyone know if you are on drive mode (gear=D), the sliding doors cannot be opened? that is an auto-lock function?

yes. ! lets hope the engine noise would be rectified after 1K servicing ..

seriously , I can understand if my engine is noisy if its over the 5 year mark ...

but barely a month old...it shouldn't be the case isn't it ?

yes .. if you are in D gear . , slide door can be opened unless u use more force to open manually ... probably a safety feature , incase some joker passenger wanna try some Jackie chan stuff when moving on highways..

based on ur explanation n comparison w other mz5, shouldn't b the case. mayb this one / small % nvr adjust valve tappet clearance as properly.

do keep posted, tks.
