Xman13 1st Gear November 2, 2015 Share November 2, 2015 Hey catanony, just wanted to share that the lack of airbags was also very concerning for me when I was doing my research. FC was also a big factor for me, and I was seriously considering the Citroen Grand Picasso diesel model as a result. My second choice was the Kia Carens, which is in my opinion a really good car, but still a Korean made car nonetheless. In the end, what won me over was the M5's price, driving performance and interior spaciousness. It also has decent FC (ard 10km/L), a good Pioneer HU sound system and of course, sliding doors! There are of course some other cons like no electric seats, cruise control, 3rd row aircon ducts, LED lights...but at the end of the day if you like the car, you will learn to live without these "luxurious gadgets" as my SE put it. Apparently this is how they can sell it at this price and still make a profit. True .. Did the same before I get my Mazda 5. Overall packages was the deal breaker. Good pick up, comfortable drive. Pity about the Fuel consumption, getting only a 8.0-8.5 km/l, do note that the on board display shows l/km... so when it shows 12.2 or 12.0 l/100km - your fuel consumption is around 8.2 km/l. hitlerson21 Clutched November 2, 2015 Share November 2, 2015 Converting to HID light is illegal unless the HID is from Mazda OEM. fyi. I would suggest listing down the Needs and Wants checklist before you decide what car you eventually buy. For example Needs 1. > 5 seats for passengers 2. Affordability 3. Good fuel consumption (>10km/l) Wants 1. > 2 airbags 2. sliding doors 3. Good acceleration and powerful enough 4. Not a parallel importer for me, Mazda 5 fits all the Needs and 3 out of 4 Wants. If i were to compare with Toyota wish, i felt that Mazda 5 has better acceleration than Wish. You need to go for a test drive to compare this. Or you can look at both specs from internet. Erictl76 1st Gear November 2, 2015 Share November 2, 2015 My own preference, the halogen headlight looks kinda bad. Even the same design mazda 3 already using bi-xenon already. I also thinking of swapping to hid :) looks better lol. But i dont choose those intensity to blind others It's more for cosmetic look rather than real brightness.... In SG, street are bright enough that headlights are mostly meant for an indicator to other road users. I drive in Malaysia sometimes in the street that without street light, our stock headlights are bright enough for any use. I used to hate those who change to very bright light that blinding the car in front or opposite direction when I was driving my old car. Now, with anti-glare rearview mirror of our M5, it's a good plus point to me. It's fine with others to mod their car, they're taking the risk anyway, but, if it affects other road user, I'm the first one to say 'No!' to them. Wonder if it will void certain part of warranty covered by Trans Eurokars if we have others to be fitted at outside workshop? If there is any wiring that requires wiring cutting of the original wire harness of the carin any of the aftermarket installation, it'll potentially void the warranty according to the Mazda service crew. Just test drive last Saturday. I asked the SE about fuel consumption, and he just said "very good" and pointed me to see the number on dashboard, which shows 14. So I thought it was 14km/l, till just now I saw your post. If it's l/100km, means the FC was only 7.1 for that test drive car, that was bad. Also, the SE was actually recommending Biante over M5 to me, saying it's much more spacious and just slightly longer. The only draw back is the acceleration is a little slow but not significant comparing to M5. So to M5 bros here, did you ever consider Biante and what made you to pick M5 in the end? Test cars are normally abused and mostly short trips. That naturally makes the FC to be on the high side. Personally I don't think Biante is worth that price as OMV is only $1+k above M5 but selling at about $15k more. I chose M5 over the Biante as M5 looks more sporty. And I prefer M5's interior to the Biante. In my opinion, Biante is a little boxy and I don't really like the tail lights. Space is the only advantage point that I can think of. I am interested in the M8 but it is way above my budget. My final decision is M5 and I'm enjoying every moment of driving it, till the extend of getting a ticket for overspeeding....HAIZ!!!! cheers to all

You should disregard whatever he/she recommend.

I did not consider Biante because the price sold in Singapore is too expensive. In Malaysia, Biante's price tag is cheaper than our Mazda 5. I do not like Biante with the more than 100Kg kerb weight if compare with M5, using same engine with same 149 HP, it means very underpower. At least it should use 2.3 L engine like Mazda 8. Only good thing for Biante is bigger space for family.

M5 is more like a sedan car and manageable to her.

Here, Biante cost $15K more than M5 even thought the OMV is only $1K more.

Erictl76 1st Gear November 3, 2015 Share November 3, 2015 Few feedback on the poor servicing the standards already. Is there a difference doing at Ubi or at Alexandra? Never been to Alexandra branch.... both 1k and 5k were done @ Ubi.... They didn't provide the 'full' service as I expected..... first of all, they can just give me an update by maybe 2pm if they realised that it'll not be ready by 2.30pm as previously informed.... 2ndly, they would have to find out how long I would have to wait further when I asked:" how long more I have to wait here?"...not simply answer me : I don't know.... I'm totally fine if they give me an update, or at least give me some info abt what's going on. Some hiccups are acceptable as long as we're informed earlier.... anyway, i waited another 30mins before they hand over my car back to me... so, from 2.30pm (where is supposed to be ready), to 4:10pm (when I arrived), to 4:35pm (when I first informed about the delay), to 5.05pm (when I got my car and left).... seems like next time, may need to take their word with 2hrs buffers.... Just share here for other owners' reference....
