Mazda 5 - requesting owners feedback

If it's still under warranty, go back to Eurokars and they will arrange for TLW to go over to check. Note that the warranty for the GPS module is only 1 year, so do get it checked ASAP.

Those of us who got the bundled GPS module by TLW all suffered this GPS issue it seems. But those of us whose warranties are over have no recourse now...

It seems like it's due to some reset of the satellites date and the GPS modules not being able to handle, similar to the "Y2K" bug. Can Google "GPS disruption 2019" to find out more.

Thank you for the information. I gave up head set with GPS system. I used my mobile phone instead. It is faster and easier to use....

cheers to all!

I love Mazda 5... Zoomm......

Hi all, I am thinking of getting 2nd hand m5.... About $81k with 7 years more. Is it worth getting it? And can i ask if the air flows to 3rd row seats? Thanks in advance

I would consider the M5 as most bang for buck Mini MPV. Having seated at the last row myself, I can get the aircon provided the the center row aircon vents are blowing towards the rear. It's not hot yet not cold..Just nice for me. For the driver & passenger, they can use the side vents to face them. Center ones face upwards and the 2nd row passengers have their own vents so it's sufficient.

Thanks David for your prompt response.

You are indeed resourceful.

I went down to Mazda Ubi this morning to report the GPS not responding issues and indeed they claimed that there is satellite issues which affect only Mazda 5 GPS which I could not comprehend why only affect Mazda 5....doesn't it affect all car models GPS if it is Satellite issues.

Anyway, I was told to wait till the issues is resolved but did not inform of any closure date.....

Thanks for the updates. I just realized that mine is also facing this issue on my Pioneer avh-x2850bt.

Agree, the M5 is incredible value.

Just need to find one with good price and in good condition.

Go test drive and have a feel. In fact i felt that the M5 is more responsive and powerful compared to the RB1 Honda Odyssey 2.4L. If you're ferrying 7 adults, the M5 will lose out to the Odyssey but power wise, the M5 is much more responsive.

How good is the condition of the used car, if in doubt, it's ideal to send the car for an evaluation test. From there, you can have an idea of the car's condition.

It's relatively maintenance free and I've clocked 30k km since Nov 2017. It's very comfortable on the NSHW whenever we go Malaysia.

Dear all,

Did anybody experience funny sweet smell from the aircon? It gets real cold and then the smell will be out. However it is on and off.

What could be the problem?

Thank you

Is it still occurring? I reckon an aircon filter change should help and if it still persist, most likely the smell lingers on the aircon condenser or blower fan.

HI, I don't experience the smell anymore. I will try to change the aircon filter on the next servicing.

THank you so much!

Hi all,

May I check what brand of wipers are you using? I have changed a few brands but always ended up with streaks after wiping....

NVB, Bosch.....

Thank you again for information!

Sometimes, it's not the wipers but the windscreen itself.

Use 3M Softback sanding sponge with soap water and rub in a circular motion. In fact i realized after sanding the windscreen, in a light rainfall on expressway, the rain will just "fly" off my windscreen. dun even need to activate my wipers.

This looks abrasive.

U need to use it with car shampoo water. I've been using this product for more than 10years and generally i don't change my wipers often as i hardly activate them as the rainwater will just repel from the glass. Try it, u can get them from Autobacs or Stamford tyres about $3 thereabout.

So far I seldom clean my windscreen, but occasionally I use this.

This will pick up contaminants on the windscreen but it can't remove watermarks or fine scratches. I occasionally will claybar the windscreen after using the 3M sponge. This helps too [thumbsup]

Hi guys, so I forgot to switch off my passenger reading light and left for holidays for a week. And my battery got flat... thankfully I was able to jump start it. But now got an issue with my steering wheel audio controls because it cannot work. My pioneer headset remote control is also unable to work. Any kind bros with experience to share how I can fix this? Tried the steering wheel control in the Pioneer settings but it was not lighted up; as in I cannot even access it. Thanks again!

Have you turned off the audio system before navigating to the device setting? The audio system has to be turned off before the steering wheel control option is made available.

Thanks for your advice, I did that and was able to regain my steering wheel settings! Gamsiah!

Hi SGCMiemontea,

I did my outside service after the free servicing at TEK.  Always good to save some money.

I did my 70K servicing at Monster Garage and did a auto transmission oil. Really worth it.

Hope this helps!

cheers

Also want to inform that I have been to Monster Garage for my 30k servicing. Folks there were professional and friendly. I am glad I saved almost half in servicing compared to what TEK quoted. Will be back for my car matters. Thanks again to bros/sis here for the kind sharing.
